In 2025, the International Federation of Padel (FIP) introduces changes to the tournament structure, with redesigned categories. Here's a look at the new formulas:
New tournament categories
FIP tournaments will now be classified into four main categories and no longer 5 categories as in 2024:
- Platinum: The most prestigious level, with 2 days of qualifications et 5 days of main draw, and prize money between €120 and €000. These tournaments will offer live streaming on multiple courts, high-end facilities (gymnasiums, changing rooms, rest areas), and matches produced for extensive television coverage.
- Gold: Tournaments offering a prize money de 50 000 € to 80 000 €, with matches broadcast from the quarter-finals. These tournaments will take place on 5 days, with 2 days of qualifications et 3 days of main draw.
- Silver (ex Star): These events will have a prize money across €15 and €000, with matches broadcast from the semi-finals. They include 2 days of qualifications et 3 days of main draw.
- Bronze (Merger between Promotion and Rise): With a prize money limited between €7 and €000, these tournaments also include 2 days of qualifications et 3 days of main draw. Only the end will be mandatory to broadcast.
Additional services
- Accommodation : For the FIP Platinum, players qualified for the main draw are offered at least 2 nights accommodation. For other tournaments, players benefit from special rates.
- Facilities: Access to a warm-up room, a on-site catering and total WIFI connection is mandatory for all tournaments.
- Transport: shuttle services between hotels and match venues are mandatory for tournaments Platinum et Gold.
We will come back later with all the details of these new developments for 2025.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
