After the speech of the Prime Minister, Edouard Philippe, last night, the world of padel was clearly optimistic for a resumption of padel to 4 from June 2.

But by looking more closely, and especially since the publication of the government today, the French Tennis Federation will have to fight to have the Ministry of Sports accept the possibility of replaying the padel at 4.

Because the FFT is confronted with 2 particularly disturbing elements to allow a return to normal.

Le padel, a team sport… Maybe.

Le padel could be considered a team sport just like football or rugby. This sport is played 2 against 2. And the Ministry could oppose this element to the FFT to postpone the return to 4 at padel.

Especially since our Badminton friends will not be able to play 4 (in doubles). The French Badminton Federation has been clear. Yes for single, no for double.

Obviously, we can only fear to see the padel allowed but at 1 vs 1.

The 5m distance rule!

What certainly poses the biggest problem is this famous 5 meter rule. And he is one of the great actors and patrons of the padel Frenchman who pointed it out to us: Jeff Cadiou.

A terrible rule for the padel, because if this sport is considered by the Ministry of Sports as “moderate intensity activity","covered sports equipment such as outdoor, when the sport is organized (club, educator association), must respect the physical distance specific to sports activities between practitioners (10m for a physical activity such as running, 5m for an activity at moderate intensity) ”.

More clearly, it would be impossible in this case to ensure playing 2 vs 2 with the 5 meters of physical distance.

For indoor structures located in the orange zone, whatever happens, be prepared not to start again until June 22, unless there is an incredible and beautiful surprise ... The government has indicated that covered or indoor structures will have to wait ...
