Patrick Fouquet, the coach of Team France Padel looks back at the 1st edition of the Padel Nations Cup:
The PADEL NATIONS CUP is currently taking place in the Netherlands. A mixed European competition by country.
This competition was born recently on the will of the ITF (International Tennis Federation) wishing to take a place in the middle of the Padel.
The invited countries are those which have the Padel to the names of their Tennis Federation; 7 countries responded.
The competition is played with a 7 hen country from 20 to August 25.
Mode of operation: 1 double gentlemen / 1 double ladies and mixed 1
Everything was decided a little in the emergency and the breeders Patrick Fouquet and Alexis Salles had to deal with many absences due to the commitments of each.
The selection is therefore composed of BENJAMIN TISON, JULIEN MAIGRET who replaced his brother injured at the last moment in his quality of 8th French, MATHIEU LAPOUGE thanks to his good results with MORGAN MANNARINO this season.
For the ladies the idea was to give a little more international experience to young people who play their qualifier in France team for the World Cup at the end of October.
LEA GODALIER, MARIANNE VAN DAELE and MELISSA MARTIN will thus make their experience.
This morning, France beaten BELGIUM 3 / 0
At the time of printing FRANCE and SPAIN are at 1 / 1 after the small feat of LEA and MARIANNE who beat a pair with the 104 WPT JUNCAL AIZPURINA;
BENJAMIN AND MELISSA play the mixed against the best 2.
Tomorrow WEDNESDAY FRANCE will face ITALY so a meeting agitated in anticipation as always against our best enemies.
Franck Binisti discovered padel at the Club des Pyramides in 2009 in the Paris region. Since then, padel has been part of his life. You often see him touring France to cover major French padel events.
But what is this cup? Did the Spanish send juniors or what? In Spain we have never heard about this tournament. Really, I would like to know the Spanish participants because I am a little in the padel environment in Spain.
Thank you
Hello, you are partly right. This is a tournament where the best players from each nation are not necessarily present. but it is nevertheless a good competition. On the Spanish side, we nevertheless had a very good World Padel Tour, former partner of Miguel Lamperti. besides, the French delivered a great service.
