The 13th World Championships padel by team should start very soon. The International Federation of Padel (FIP) is currently in the process of validating the dates and location for the men's and women's qualifications.

The final stages in Lisbon

What has been definitively validated: The finals will take place in Lisbon from November 14 to 20. If we do not yet know in which club, the FIP explains to us that things should be settled very soon with the Portuguese Federation of Padel.

Remember that Mexico was one of the destinations a moment tipped to host these final phases. Other countries were in the ranks like USA, Paraguay, Sweden or Belgium.

Qualifying phases that become clearer

First information: The qualifying stages ladies and gentlemen will not take place at the same place and at the same time. Maybe a little disappointment for some teams who would have liked the teams to stay together and take place at the same time.

For the ladies, there will be the choice between 2 dates and 2 cities:

  • 10 at 12 June, Rijswijk-La Hague, The Netherlands.

  • August 26-28, in Gent, Belgium.

In gentlemen:

  • From 1 to 3 July, in Vilnius, Lithuania.

  • From 7 to 9 July, Basel, Switzerland.

it will be necessary to wait for the 9 May to know definitively where the qualifying phases will take place.

How to prepare for the World Championships padel

On May 7 and 8, the French Tennis Federation (FFT) which represents the padel French, must provide the list of players participating in the qualifications. The FFT explained that it will be the 2015 version of the French team for the qualifications since “lThe international calendar does not allow us to propose a France 2016 team before these qualifications.".

On the other hand, for the final stages which will take place in Lisbon, and in the case where the team of France is qualified, "it will be the team of France 2016 who will go to Lisbon".

Finally for the finals, the FIP could allow up to 8 players including 2 replacements for each country.

Appointment 9 May to know definitively will place the qualifiers.
