Spain's national men's team Padel issued a statement in which she explained the reasons why she had not made it to the World Cup final in Padel in Paraguay.

It should be recalled that this decision was also adopted by all the players of the Argentinian national men's team, the other finalist.

Of course, everything is not black, starting with the superb performance of our teams in France (women and men) at this world, respectively 5eand 4e !

Here are the reasons for the failure of the World Padel :

  1. Bad playing conditions

According to the press release from the Spanish team, some fields of padel had plexiglass walls in poor condition, posing a real risk to player safety. Moreover, after a few matches played, some fields were put "in quarantine", to prevent the players from injuring themselves. One of the windows of one of the fields even broke during a game.

Recall the recent accident suffered by Paquito Navarro in Portugal Padel Master, literally breaking through one of the windows, and then suffered multiple injuries.

  1. Lights failures

In the semi-final between Brazil and Spain (men's), there was a power failure. This happened during the match between Ale Galàn / Matias Diaz against Pablo Lima / Lucas Campagnolo during the tie-break of the third set.

  1. Food poisoning

During the first days of the tournament, a large number of players felt uncomfortable because of lunches, and dinners served on the main site.

Some confrontations had to be postponed, and forced players to lunch, and dinner in their hotel, more than 40 minutes from the match site.

  1. Bad Wifi connection

Wifi connections were non-existent or, if necessary, of very poor quality. This made communication between the Federations and the organization difficult, and vice versa.

On several occasions, the organization has informed the game schedule that morning, since it was impossible to communicate.

  1. Little room for maneuver for the team final

The fact that many players had scheduled flights early Sunday morning limited the organization's room for maneuver to find a solution to the men's team tournament finals.

The last matches were scheduled at 21h30 in Paraguay, which would have meant that the end of the matches would have been late at night.

  1. No official streaming

The organization faced this World Cup of Padel without thinking about streaming matches for fans of the sport across the world.

There was only streaming dropper. It would have been wise to propose qualitative streaming from the semi-finals.

  1. An organization overwhelmed by events

There did not seem to be any plan B during the study of the organization of this World Cup. Indeed, the organizers focused on improvisation, which actually brought bad results.

The last day of the World Cup, the Saturday 3 November, is a good example. That day, barely two hours before the start of the women's team final, the Spanish delegation was informed by the referee that the finals had been moved to Quinta, to open pitches, and outside. safety zones defined by the Paraguayan Olympic Committee.

Knowing that the finals were supposed to be played on "a great site" ... But the famous site was not ready to host the competition.

The storm will then be responsible for the fact that this plan of moving the final was not the right one. Then it was decided that the final would take place at Club Aventura, an indoor club with a capacity of stands limited to 50 people, and in unacceptable playing conditions. Importantly, the organization sold over 2 tickets for the day.

  1. Ignorance of the results

Although the organization announced that all results could be tracked on the Setteo site, it was impossible to know them the same day or the day after the matches.

In conclusion :

The new leadership of the International Federation of Padel which will take place from next January will have its work cut out for it to restore some order to this FIP which has been failing for too long.

We know how complicated it is to organize a competition. And, there were positive things ... But it would have been good to have an official statement from the organization to explain and perhaps apologize to some teams injured in this tournament.
