As we announced yesterday, The Stupa/Di Nenno pair will reunite at the Mexican Major. end of November to constitute Los Superpibes 3.0 !
But, you might ask: what is Los Superpibes???
The "Superpibes": teenagers who are reaching the pinnacle of world padel
In the world of padel, few stories are as powerful as that of Franco Stupaczuk and Martín Di Nenno. The two Argentinians, nicknamed the "Superpibes," grew up together on the courts, forged an unbreakable friendship, and won the hearts of fans long before reaching the top of the world rankings.
Passionate children with a junior world title
Born a year apart, Stupaczuk (Chaco, 1996) and Di Nenno (Ezeiza, 1997) were immersed in padel from a very young age. In 2007, their paths crossed for the first time at the Junior World Championships in Buenos Aires.Without any real preparation, they won the title. A foundational victory: the legend of the "Superpibes" was born.
As teenagers, they became the most promising Argentinian pair, holding their own against the best young Spaniards. Their bond extends beyond the pitch: same training sessions, same friends, same roof for two yearsA solid friendship, despite one major exception: one is a Boca supporter, the other a River supporter.
It was Martín's father who decided to create a Facebook page called Superpibes (the super kids) and to publish the story of Franco and Martín's adventures on the field. The nickname stuck!
An ascent cut short by tragedy
The dream was shattered in January 2016. Martín Di Nenno was involved in a road accident that claimed the lives of two of his close friends and left him with both broken legs. For him, padel is no longer a priority. For Stupa, it's "lo único".
The doctors even doubt that Martin will be able to walk again. But 485 days later, Di Nenno returns to the circuitaffectionately nicknamed "renga" (lame) because of his still marked gait. The steps are slow, painful, but miraculous.
Then came the moment of rebirth, forming a very endearing pair alongside Paquito Navarro and winning his first title in Barcelona in 2021The player utters words that have become historic and imbued with strong emotion:
"All I wanted was to go back to playing padel, I didn't want any of this."
The return of the Superpibes
In 2022, they played together again for the Argentinian national team. And in 2023, the long-awaited announcement arrived: the Superpibes reunited their duo for the season. Result: six titles, an exceptional season and a fierce battle for the world number 1 ranking.
A story of resilience, friendship and passion, the Superpibes then wrote their legend.
But, in 2024, things get complicated and The duo only reached one final in nine tournaments. When we learn of the separation of Stupaczuk and Di Nenno after the Malaga P1This is a blow for the fans; nobody expected a breakup mid-season.
History repeats itself: Los Superpibes 3.0
Franco and Martin will once again form the pair that fans are waiting for at the Major in Mexico at the end of November, hoping that this partnership will be able to last over time.
From two children brought together by chance to two champions driven by resilience, Di Nenno and Stupa embody what sport produces at its finest: perseverance, friendship and courage in the face of obstacles encountered.
The competition has never been fiercer at the top of world padel. And it will be difficult to overturn the hierarchy, but if there is a duo capable of doing it, it is Los Superpibes!
