In Occitania, we continue to equip ourselves with padel courts. This time, it is the turn of the Tennis Club of Valras with an atypical story.
The Gasquet family was the first to work and train tennis players at the Valras Tennis Club
The Gasquet were a real engine to boost the Tennis Club Valras.
Tells the current President of the TCV, Mars Roger.
In March 2018, the club launched into padel with the construction of 2 courts. Marc Roger continues:
We have 3 qualified instructors. The 3 instructors will be able to teach padel and the club is open all year round, although in summer the club is particularly busy.
The tennis club had 6 tennis courts until then, but the Tennis Club of Valras removed 1 to put in 2 padel courts.
But in reality, "We have been thinking about padel for over 3 years! And the town hall decided to take matters into its own hands to allow the tennis club to have its own padel infrastructure"
The inauguration of the padel club will take place tomorrow at 11 a.m. with the presence of the Mayor of Valras, Mr Combes.
Oliver André, the club's padel manager, will offer a short padel demonstration and initiation.
The president of Valras Tennis Club, Marc Roger conlut:
I am myself a tennis player who has recently started playing padel. And I hope to start competing in some national competitions soon.
Moreover, we are organizing a P100 tournament next June, which will be our first padel tournament at Tennis Club de Valras.

Franck Binisti discovered padel at the Club des Pyramides in 2009 in the Paris region. Since then, padel has been part of his life. You often see him touring France to cover major French padel events.
