The former tennis champion, the Swedish, Thomas Johansson became the general manager of the APT Padel Tower. A catch and a rookie of choice for the circuit which wants to demonstrate its potential on all continents.
A distinguished recruit!
Thomas Johansson, did not fall by chance in the APT Padel Tour. It is indeed very linked to Tennis Padel Soleil and Fabrice Pastor for many years. He himself is a big fan of padel.
We can indeed see him regularly, padel pala in hand, at the Beausoleil club. But we have also seen him on the French circuit in a few padel tournaments.
This appointment is more than a symbol. The Swedish will be able to bring all his experience acquired in the tennis world. Nearly 25 experiences that will help the circuit to develop.
Thomas is the former world No. 7 and above all the winner of a Grand Chelem : The Australian Open in 2002. He continues to coach on the professional tennis circuit near Monaco.
Another tennis pro in padel
We can also say: another professional tennis player who is involved in padel. Andy Murray, Henri Leconte, and even indirectly Tsonga with the tennis and padel academy – All In in Lyon.
So it's not a surprise to see Thomas join the APT team Padel Tour.
Thomas Johansson wants to develop padel on a global scale:
I am very honored to have the opportunity to lead the APT Padel Tower. I can't wait to start my new role with the APT team and meet all the players, tournaments and partners. Our aim is to develop the sport globally so that more people around the world can have the opportunity to enjoy this fantastic sport.
A global ambition
Thomas Johansson and the circuit are on the same wavelength: Objective, to develop padel internationally.
Fabrice Pastor, President of the APT Padel Tour, would like to see the circuit on all continents. Despite the crisis, it's already off to a good start as the circuit will pass through 12 countries in America and… Europe.
The Franco-French question is: Will we see French people participating in the European stages at least? The organizers are working on it.
And it may be that top French players participate in the adventure in 2021 ...

Franck Binisti discovered padel at the Club des Pyramides in 2009 in the Paris region. Since then, padel has been part of his life. You often see him touring France to cover major French padel events.
