Thomas Leygue and Jesús Moya are one match away from the title at the FIP Bronze Bamvolea Ciudad Raqueta. Seeded 8th, the Franco-Spanish pair have had a particularly strong run in Madrid: four matches, four straight-set victories, and, most importantly, the elimination of the 3rd and 1st seeds in succession. In the final, another challenge awaits them against the surprising wild card pairing of Javier Collantes and Asier Martinez. 

Leygue and Moya get off to a strong start

 Thomas Leygue, 148th in the world, and Jesús Moya, 128th began their tournament against  Alberto García Jiménez (135th) and Christian Medina Murphy (157th) .

A first test well negotiated with a victory  6 / 3 6 / 3 before a much more expeditious round of 16 match against  Pablo Calleja Pulido / Iker Sevilla: 6/2 6/0 .

Two strong performances against TS3 and TS1

It was from the quarter-finals onwards that Leygue and Moya's journey took on a new dimension.

In front of the  seeded 3 Ignacio Vilariño Gestoso / Juan Zamora Pérez , respectively  68th and 111th in the world The Franco-Spanish pair prevailed.  7 / 5 6 / 3 .

And Leygue / Moya don't stop there.

In the semi-finals, the  TS1 Daniel Santigosa / Ramiro Valenzuela Two players in the world's top 80, Santigos being  60e  and Valenzuela  79e  at the time the tournament list was drawn up.

Once again, Leygue and Moya delivered. They won.  6/4 7/6(3)  and secure their place in the final.

The results are particularly clean:  No sets lost in four matches , with three players from the top 80 eliminated in the last two rounds: Vilariño (68th), Santigosa (60th) and Valenzuela (79th).

A wild card that turned the bottom half of the table upside down

In the final, there was no second seed, but the tournament's surprise pair:  Javier Collantes Guijo / Asier Martinez Lopez .

Invited to the main table thanks to a  wild card However, the two Spaniards knocked out the seeded players one after another. They eliminated  Castro / Miñano (TS7) then  Ayats / Sánchez Chamero (TS4)  and finally  Marc Sintes / Nacho Moragues (TS2)  in the semi-finals,  6 / 3 6 / 4 .

This pairing is therefore no longer a surprise given their track record. Leygue and Moya have been warned: after the TS3 and TS1, they will have to eliminate the players who defeated the TS7, TS4 and TS2 to claim the title.

A final that cost Madrid P1 their qualification against Leygue

This qualification nevertheless entails collateral damage for  Thomas Leygue .

The Frenchman was scheduled to compete  Madrid P1 qualifiers with Ferran Insa , after finally making it onto the roster, having been on the waiting list just a few days earlier.

But the schedule leaves no room for error:  The FIP Bronze final takes place on the same day as the start of the Madrid P1 qualifiers. Leygue will therefore be unable to honor his commitment to Insa.

A disappointment, of course, for his partner, who was supposed to accompany him on this P1, but the sporting choice is now obvious:  Leygue is one win away from a title with Jesús Moya .
