Among all the players present during the two weeks of FIP Silver in Reunion, disputed at Champ Fleuri then the Reunion Island Padel -, a name is needed: Thomas VanbauceThe Bordeaux player was undoubtedly one of the strong men of this tour, delivering a remarkable overall performance alongside Julien Seurin.

A convincing return after a difficult season

The former member of The french team is coming off a complicated year, marked by an injury that kept him off the slopes for several months. But his return to the FIP Tour was impressive. We can already say that Vanbauce is back in business, with a possible selection for the French team for the next World Championships 2026.

Of course, the deadline is still a long way off, and the Blues' recent European campaign, which ended with a disappointing 3rd place, showed that the competition remains tough. But paradoxically, it's good Thomas Vanbauce who sent the clearest message to the coach Pablo Ayma :

“Left, Pablo, you can count on me 100% again.”

Two full weeks and benchmark matches

The French staff undoubtedly watched these two FIP Silver players closely, as several French players showed some great things. But Vanbauce distinguished himself through his consistency and commitment.

Two matches particularly illustrate his current form:

  • La nice victory face Nunes / Solano, which allowed him to take revenge after the defeat suffered a week earlier at Champ Fleuri.
  • Le big fight face Dominguez / Huete, where despite the defeat, Vanbauce delivered an exceptional performance, making Huete waver several times, as in their first confrontation.

In this last match, the Frenchman was undoubtedly the best player on the field, facing a Facundo Domínguez in its still solid parallel to the right.

A duet to be perfected with Julien Seurin

His partner Julien Seurin, for his part, has had two interesting weeks, alternating between very good sequences and more irregular passages. The left-hander remains capable of creating the difference thanks to his forward play and his aggressiveness, but he still needs to find more stability.

If they manage to raise their level at the same time over a full match, especially against benchmark pairs like Dominguez / Huete, there is no doubt that Vanbauce and Seurin could climb important ladders together in world ranking.
