Timéo Fonteny has finally secured his first title on the FIP circuit. The Frenchman won the  FIP Bronze Ljubljana  alongside the Swede  Albin Olsson concluding a perfectly controlled week in Slovenia.

In their very first partnership, the two players quickly found their rhythm and steadily improved throughout the tournament. In the final, they dominated the Portuguese.  Antonio Luque  et  Pedro Perry , seeded 4, with a score of  7 / 5 6 / 4 .

 A perfectly managed week 

The Franco-Swedish duo took advantage of a draw that gradually opened up with the elimination of the top two seeds. But they still had to live up to their status in the matches where they were the favorites, which Fonteny and Olsson did perfectly.

After a solid start against the Italians  Alessandro Ciaccia / Edoardo Vittorio Galbusera  (6/3 6/1), they then eliminated the 7th seed  Octavio Alvarez / Vinny Nahuel Di Francesco  in the quarter-finals (6/4 7/6).

In the semi-final, they confirmed their excellent level by defeating the 8th seed.  Santino Giuliani Lombardo / Fabian Oviedo Berazategui , who defeated the number 1 seed, after a match won in two tie-breaks:  7 / 6 7 / 6 .

 A first that calls for others 

This victory has a special significance for Timéo Fonteny. The Frenchman had already experienced the thrill of the FIP finals last season, without managing to reach the final hurdle. This time, he seized his opportunity and finally secured his first international trophy.

Beyond the title, this victory allows him to pocket  40 FIP points , a great move that should allow him to continue his progress in the world rankings.

Fonteny confirms that he is one of the rising stars of French tennis. And this first victory could well be just the beginning. He will be competing next week at the FIP Silver Narbonne alongside Yoann Boronad.
