Timéo Fonteny / Yoan Boronad: a year of learning and a return to basics in 2025

Young people Timeo Fonteny et Yoan Boronad, members of the Nox Future Academy, are learning from a 2024 season marked by ups and downs, and are displaying their ambitions for 2025. After months of experimenting with other partners, the duo is ready to set off again together to conquer the circuits national et International.

A start to the year between progress and difficulties

"Until June, our start to the year was correct, without being exceptional," analysis Timeo. "We didn't have any great performances, but we didn't have any poor performances either." The duo then flew to Spain, where a month of intensive training allowed them to lay the foundations for their progress. This work quickly paid off during the regional championships, which they won. "This title marked a first turning point in our season," underlines Timeo.

The victory at P1500 from Bandol was also a highlight. "The conditions suited us perfectly, and that allowed us to build our confidence," he explains. However, the series of competitions took its toll on their physique. "We played almost every weekend while training intensively in Spain. Result: Yoan injured his shoulder and I started to suffer from periostitis,” he says. Timeo.

For Yoan, the year had already started badly with a foot injury. "I broke my foot on January 1st, which kept me off the field for almost three months. It was frustrating, but I knew I had to be patient to get back to my best level."

Experience at the cost of sacrifices

Yoan injured, Timéo played with Arthur Hugounenq at the international tournament in Bandol. "We participated in the FIB Rise Bandol, where we logically lost in the quarter-finals against Bastien Blanqué et Maxime Joris "Says Timeo. Which did not prevent Timéo and Yoan from winning the title of French Youth Champions. "It was not an easy victory, because Yoan “I was just coming back from his injury, and I was tired after an FIP tournament,” he admits.

For Yoan, this period was marked by ups and downs. "After Roland-Garros, we decided to play with other partners. It was a complicated phase for me, because Timeo was playing at a very high level while I was slowly getting back into it. But it allowed us to progress individually."

International competitions as a driving force

Their journey continued with the European Junior Championships, where they won a silver medal as a team. "In Open U18, we lost in the first round, and it was clearly my fault,” admits Timeo. "But this team medal was a great reward."

One of the highlights of the year for Timeo was his participation in the World's Championships. “Playing every game with players like Jo bergeron et Thomas Leygue taught me a lot. I gained maturity and confidence." After the Worlds, he took part in several international tournaments, notably reaching the final of the FIP Star in Mauritius with Maxime Joris.

For Yoan, these experiences reinforced their desire to play together again. "Even if we weren't always a duo, these moments allowed us to come back stronger and ready to take on new challenges."

2025: the big return of the Fonteny / Boronad pair

After this period of experimentation, the young pair decided to leave together in 2025. "We feel that it is the right time. We have gained experience each on our own, and now, we are ready to take on the challenges together," says Yoan.

Their season will begin with the N1 with the Club du Mas (Perpignan) in Strasbourg, followed by two tournaments at Réunion. “It’s a great opportunity. The prize money are interesting, and this will allow us to finalize our pre-season while confronting international players,” explains Timeo.

Clear ambitions for the coming year

Both players share ambitious goals. "Internationally, our big goal is to get into the circuit Premier Padel, especially P2, P1 et majors"It won't be easy, because we still lack a lot of points, but we think we have the level," he confided. Timeo.

Yoan also aims for a place in France team. "The competition is tough, especially on the right, with players like Leygue, Guichard, Bergeron and Joris. But it is a goal that I set for myself, even if I know that it will be complicated.

On their relations with the selectors, Timeo et Yoan hope for more. "I have had little exchange with Pablo Ayma, except when he explained to me why I had not been selected for the world championships,” he admits. Yoan. Timeo adds: "It was especially during competitions that I had a few discussions with him."

Building on the experience gained in 2024, Timeo Fonteny et Yoan Boronad approach 2025 with ambition and determination. “We have learned from our mistakes and difficult times. This will be the year when we really show what we are worth,” concludes Timeo.

With an ambitious vision about to pair found for both clear objectives, the young players of the Nox Future Academy, now 12ᵉ et 14ᵉ au French ranking, seem ready to take an important step in their career, in France as atinternational.
