The Madrid adventure ends in the last round of qualifying for  Carla Toully  and the Spanish  Marta Arellano Navarro , beaten 6/1 6/4 by the number 2 seed  Agueda Pérez Ortiz / Marta Borrero Fernández .

For their  first tournament together , the Franco-Spanish pair had started perfectly by winning the day before against Paula Ferrán Díaz / Carla Serrano González (6/3 6/2). A controlled first match, marked by Touly's clean play and Arellano's offensive impact.

But this Monday, the challenge was on another level. From the start, Pérez Ortiz and Borrero set a fast pace. Carla and Marta, short of time, suffered and logically conceded the first set 6/1. In the second, they showed great resources: despite an early break, they stayed in touch thanks to tactical adjustments. Touly, heavily used on the smash under a low roof that complicated her returns, began to vary by lobbing more in parallel to involve her partner. A winning strategy that allowed them to hold on until the end, before conceding 6/4.

A logical setback, but one rich in lessons. Touly and Arellano have proven that they can quickly find their reflexes, and this first experience will definitely serve them well.  A good omen for Roland-Garros , where they will also evolve together in a few days.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
