Consequence of the new regulations padel in 2020: Certain tests of padel approved can no longer be done in one day. The Padel Club de Bois d'Arcy had the bitter experience of this during its last P100. Conclusion: The semi-finalists do not always play. Why ?

Before, we could make up to 7 games and thus go to the end of the tournament in one day. Today, it is 5 matches per day maximum whatever the formula of the matches that we use. But beware the match formulas have also evolved. To satisfy players, it's the end of NO AD. But for the club the formula 9 games NO AD was simpler for the organization… Not simple.

Hugo Jean, the referee of the P100 competition of Padel Club de Bois d'Arcy tells us:

We had a pair that came out of the pool with 3 games played in formula 2 sets of 4 games. This pair was to play a semi-final. Despite the fact that all of the players wanted to continue and go to the end of the tournament, the regulations required them to resume the event the next day.

The new format of games in 4 games is both a good thing for players. But for the organizer, the old format of 9 games NO AD was easier to manage when a tournament was held on a day.

In conclusion, it would certainly be wise to come back to this possibility for the organizers to offer formulas in 9 games with the NO AD for the one-day events and the small tournaments until the P250, because “many players don't want to play over 2 days ”.

We still keep the formula of 4 games, but leave flexibility for the referee if the tournament ends or not in 1 day. The referee could announce a one-day play schedule. Players who register are not surprised by the number of games played and the formula communicated.

As always, the FFT rightly points to the health of players. There is a balance to be struck. However, from the moment the players are informed about the formulas used for the matches and the maximum number of matches on a day, why would it not be possible to do as before and make up to 7 games in one day?

Players and clubs seem to agree on this point, which does not prevent players needing more recovery time from doing other padel over 2 days ...
