La French Tennis Federation (FFT) could soon introduce a new category of tournaments: the P50. While this announcement has not yet been officially validated, several clues suggest that this new feature could see the light of day as soon as next september.
This intermediate category would fit between the P25, intended for players starting out in competition, and P100, which mark a solid first step in the amateur circuit. According to Eric Largeron, elected in charge of padel at the FFT, this development responds to a need identified for several months:
“The P25 allows you to enter the competition, the P100 is already well structured, but there was a lack of an intermediate level. The P50 would fill this gap and offer better progression to players.”
If the implementation of the P50 is confirmed, it could facilitate access to competition for a greater number of practitioners while strengthening the structuring of the national ranking. However, we will have to wait for official validation by the federal commission to learn more about the exact terms of this future category.
