The first women's semi-final of the tournament Premier Padel in Mexico offers a new poster opposing the pair Gemma Triay/Delfi Brea (seeded number 2) to the duo Jessica Castelló/Aranzazu Osoro (n ° 7).
Triay and Brea, in full swing
Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea will compete today in their 3rd consecutive semi-final this season on the circuit Premier Padel. In case of victory, they would gain access to their second final in a row , after their success in the P2 tournament in Gijón, where they won their first title together.
For Triay, a place in the final today would mean his 17rd final en Premier Padel, with already 8 titles won to his name, including 3 in the P2 category. For his part, Brea could reach his 14rd final , who also has 8 titles to her name, including 5 in the P2 category, making her the player to have won the most titles at this level.
In Mexican lands, Gemma Triay has excellent memories since she won the Mexico Major 2024 in Acapulco with her ex-partner Claudia Fernández. Delfi Brea, for her part, has never yet played in a final Premier Padel in Mexico.
Castelló and Osoro, to create a surprise
Facing them are Jessica Castelló and Aranzazu Osoro, who will compete in their first semi-final together in 2025. This pair had already reached this stage twice in 2023, during the Paris Major and the Milano P1, without managing to take this decisive step.
Jessica Castelló is now aiming for her 3rd final on the circuit Premier Padel, with a title already acquired during the tournament Acapulco P1 in 2024 , alongside Claudia Jensen. She has a balanced record against her opponents today, having won 4 out of 8 against Gemma Triay and 2 out of 5 against Delfi Brea.
For Aranzazu Osoro, today's semi-final represents his 5th appearance at this level in Premier Padel, but she has never yet managed to take that step towards a final. Furthermore, Osoro has never managed to beat either Triay or Brea, either individually or when they played together.
The unusual statistic
Finally, one particularity catches the attention: All of Jessica Castelló's victories against Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea (taken separately) took place in tournaments played outdoors. An interesting trend to watch, given the conditions of the Mexican tournament.
