This Sunday, the Foro Italico is preparing to welcome a explosive women's final between the two best pairs in the world. The world number 1, Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria, find their big rivals of 2025, Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea, for a new clash at the top. The stakes are clear: the title of the Italy Major… and the world number 1 spot.

A H2H in favor of Triay / Brea

The direct confrontations this season are so far turning to the advantage of Triay and Brea, which lead 3 wins to 1. Among their successes: Qatar Major, their first major title together, already won against Sanchez / Josemaría. If the number 2 wins in Rome, they will sign a double of Majors in 2025, with an even more marked domination over their big rivals.

Ariana & Paula, defending champions under pressure

The world number 1s arrive in the final with a unique history: they have played in the three finals of the Italy Major since the creation of the tournament, and remain the reigning champions after their victory in 2024. This year, they have already won three titles (Riyadh, Brussels, Buenos Aires), but need a fourth coronation to Rome for maintain their place at the top of the FIP rankings.

With 40 professional titles togetherincluding 14 in Premier Padel, Sanchez and Josemaría form the most successful pair in the history of women's padel. But the pressure is there: in case of defeat, Gemma Triay will become world number 1 again.

A historic Triay, a Brea in search of the summit

Gemma Triay, already titled in Rome in 2023 (with Marta Ortega), could add a fourth Major to her record, and it would be a historic achievement: she would become the first player to win two Italy Majors with two different partners, and would equal Ari and Paula in number of major titles (4).

As for Delfi Brea, this final marks a turning point. After a semi-final in 2023 and a quarter-final in 2024, she is playing for the first time a final at the Italy Major, and in case of victory, it would climb to the 4th world rank, exceeding Claudia Fernández.

Note that the Triay/Brea pair was imperial all week : only 8 games lost in 3 matches. A domination that they will want to confirm this Sunday.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
