We had to wait until mid-April so that a decision can finally be made regarding the Premier Padel P1 initially planned for the end of April in Spain. After months of confusion, rumors of postponements, potential cancellations, and a heavy suspense for players, organizers and fans, the verdict is in : the tournament will take placeMore from July 28 to August 3… in Barcelona.

Several weeks of uncertainty surrounding the tournament
Announced in the calendar Premier Padel from January 2025, this P1 Spanish has not stopped to be talked about for the wrong reasons. In the absence of an agreement with a host city, the tournament even seemed doomed to be cancelled, a hypothesis that has been raised more and more openly in recent weeks.
Valencia, initially considered as a candidate, was quickly ruled out due to damage related to DANA (severe weather), which put the region in difficulty and relegated hosting an international tournament to the background. Then Seville was mentionedMore La Cartuja stadium, the place envisaged, was already mobilized for the final of the King's Cup football. Other cities like Bilbao, Zaragoza, Gran Canaria or even the Balearic Islands were considered without any of them being able to meet the necessary logistical and financial conditions.
Barcelona as a last resort
It is finally Barcelona who was chosen as fallback solution, a city already well established in the Spanish padel landscape, since it will also host the Premier Finals in December. While this solution seems logical, it was only decided very late, shaking up the entire organization.
Since then, the tournament is postponed until the middle of summer, on a date when the players will be in the middle of a European tour. This choice allows Premier Padel to save face et to maintain the six announced Spanish stages : Gijón, Valladolid, Málaga, Barcelona (twice) and Madrid.
A crucial test for Premier Padel in Spain
This P1 in Barcelona will be closely watched. It symbolizes both the circuit's ability to handle the unexpected, But also the limits of its current modelWhere anticipation and logistical stability still seem too fragile.
Let's meet, then from July 28 to August 3, with the hope that this time, padel should be at the heart of the debate, not its organization.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
