Le Gijón Premier Padel P2 makes its entry into the calendar of Premier Padel Tour, certainly in the tormented, but he does so Return of professional padel to the Asturian city after almost ten years of absence. With an ambitious vision about to total allocation of €252, the Gijon Premier Padel P2 attracts a varied international platform. 16 nationalities will be represented between the qualifying stages and the main draw, making this tournament the second most international in the history of Premier Padel, behind the Mexico Major 2024. Played indoors, this tournament offers stable and consistent playing conditions, without the influence of wind or sun. However, the balls used have a slight difference between male and female tables, the latter being faster.

A very open men's competition

Le masculine chart matters 28 pairs, among No player has won a tournament yet Premier Padel, thus ensuring a new winning duo. Alone 13 players have lifted a trophy since 2022, and Only one pair outside the top 3 has won a tournament : Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz, winners of the Bordeaux P2 and Barcelona 2024 Finals.

Favorites to follow

Leonel “Tolito” Aguirre and Gonzalo Alfonso (seeded number 3) are among the serious candidates for the title. Tolito Aguirre, famous for his spectacular shots and unique style, could offer the Gijón public some anthology points. Italians Simone Cremona and Lorenzo Di Giovanni, seeded No. 1 and No. 2, are aiming for a first title. Facundo Dehnike (16 years old) and Mariano González (17 years old), two young Paraguayan nuggets with great potential. Enzo jensen, brother of women's padel star Claudia Jensen, represents another curiosity of the tournament.

A women's table marked by the rivalry between the best players in the world

On the ladies' side, the main board has 24 pairs, among World number 1s Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría, in search of a first coronation in P2 on Spanish soil.

Three duets for one title

Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría, victorious in the Riyadh Season Premier Padel P1, start the season with ambition. Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea, seeded No. 2, have already proven their ability to shine in P2 tournaments. Claudia Fernández and Bea González, No. 3, are also among the main contenders. The former partners Delfi Brea and Bea González remain the most successful players in this category, with four titles in 2024. They also hold the record for the longest winning streak in Premier Padel (20 consecutive in 58 days).

Other players to follow

Lucía Sainz and Patty Llaguno (40 years old), two veterans of the circuit, will try to win a first title together. Andrea Ustero and Alejandra Alonso, young Spanish revelations, will seek to confirm their rise.

Spain, which welcomes six tournaments Premier Padel this year, confirms its central role in the development of the circuit. The Gijon P2 will be the 10th P2 category tournament in history, after steps to Brussels, Puerto Cabello, Asuncion, Seville, Bordeaux, Genoa, Finland, Valladolid and New Giza.
