Le  P1000 of the Hangar Padel , organized this weekend in  Réunion , is shaping up to be one of the most interesting tournaments of the early season, with a  raised tray , a strong local accent and several profiles capable of competing for the title. Notable feature:  qualifications spread over four days , a rare formula that promises plenty of action and a gradual increase in intensity up to the final stage.

Molinero / Toppin, the return to where it all left off

En  seeded 1 We will see a highly anticipated pair:  Nicolas Molinero / Alexandre Toppin A duo making their comeback together,  right where everything had stopped  Last May. During the P1000 of Réunion Padel Club, Alexandre Toppin had seriously injured his knee in the final, abruptly ending their momentum.

After many months of rehabilitation,  Toppin is gradually returning And this P1000 marks a true symbol: the resumption of the Molinero/Toppin project, together, in Reunion Island. Logically the favorites, they arrive with the clear ambition to go all the way.

The locals are ready to play the spoiler

La  seeded 2  will be composed of people from Reunion Island  Léo Pérez / Alexandre Pichon de Bury , a very well-known pair on the island. Accustomed to major local events, they will play  at home supported by the public, and will clearly be among the serious contenders for the title.

En  seeded 3 , we will find  Benoît Théard / Mickaël Grenier Benoît Théard, recently settled in Réunion and now a coach on the island, will form a duo with 100% public support. A solid pair, well-established locally, capable of raising their game at this kind of event.

Arette Hourquet, French youth on a mission

La  seeded 4  will be composed of  Alexis Arette Hourquet / Rémi Batard A young player rapidly progressing on the French circuit, Arette Hourquet traveled to Réunion Island with real ambitions. A duo to watch closely, clearly identified as  serious outsider  in this table.

A dense draw all the way up to the 8th seeds

Behind the top four seeds, the draw remains very competitive, notably with:

  •  Romain Gutstein / Paul-Henri Teyssèdre  (TS5)
  •  Christopher Verdura / Lucas Cohen Bacrie  (TS6)
  •  Baptiste Maître / Sylvain Moreau  (TS7)
  •  Hugo Marcille / Solal Drieux  (TS8)

To this are added  numerous highly ranked local pairs capable of creating surprises.

An unusual format and a tournament that will gain momentum

Another distinctive feature of this P1000:  qualifying rounds spread over four evenings offering plenty of visibility and playing time to committed players.

  •  Tuesday evening  : qualifications
  •  Wednesday evening  : qualifications
  •  Thursday night  : qualifications
  •  Friday night  : qualifications

Le  final table  will then take place over the weekend:

  •  Saturday  : 1st and 2nd rounds, then quarter-finals
  •  Sunday  : semi-finals and final

matches will be broadcast live on Padel TV Mag from the quarter-finals , to follow the decisive moments of this Reunion Island P1000.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
