Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello, world number 1, once again demonstrated their supremacy on the circuit by reaching the semi-finals of the Kuwait Premier Padel P1, after a spectacular victory in three sets against Javi Garrido et Lucas Bergamini : 7/5 5/7 6/1.

A crazy encounter that could have ended in 2 sets!

The match, which lasted almost 3 hours, offered an exceptional level of play. The first two sets were marked by a perfect balance between the two pairs. Garrido and Bergamini, particularly inspired, even had the opportunity to conclude the match in two sets. However, Tapia and Coello proved why they dominate the world ranking, raising their level of play in the third set, which they flew over by imposing themselves 6/1.

An impressive series stopped

This meeting ended an impressive series: Tapia and Coello had not lost a single set for 54 days, the last time dating back to the tournament in Rome. Among the few pairs to have taken a set from them this season, we find pairs like Paquito Navarro and Juan Lebrón or, Yanguas and Garrido.

  • Chozas/Perino (Saudi Arabia)
  • Capra/Chozas (Belgium and Chile)
  • Nieto/Sanz (Venezuela)
  • Lamperti/JC (Belgium)
  • Paquito/Lebron (Paraguayan)
  • Yanguas/Garrido (Argentina)
  • Zapata/Barahona (Italy)
  • Bergamini/Garrido (Kuwait)

With this success, Tapia and Coello continue to write their legend, but this quarter-final will remain as one of the best matches of the year. Special mention to Garrido and Bergamini, who delivered a heroic performance and confirmed their status as formidable outsiders.

See you in the semi-finals to see if the number 1s will continue their unchallenged domination.
