This is a a first in the history of modern padel : Agustín Tapia now counts 54 tracks on the professional circuit (World Padel Tour + Premier Padel), that is one more than Alejandro Galán (53) .
A powerful symbol, given how long both players have spent evolving shoulder to shoulder , sometimes on equal footing, but never with Tapia in front … until Riyadh P1 2026.
A meteoric rise in less than two years
The trajectory is enormous.
At the end of 2023, Galán was largely dominant: 39 titles versus 22 for the Argentinian.
Then everything changed with the creation of the duo Tapia / Coello :
- 32 titles won by Tapia over the period
- 14 tracks only for Galán
Tapia therefore made up 17 backlogs before passing in front.
Riyadh, the turning point
This overtaking comes after the victory in the final against Galan / Chingotto .
A final that was:
- la 30th confrontation between the two pairs (28th in Premier Padel)
- a face-off now at 21-9 for Tapia / Coello
With this title, Tapia signs:
- un 5th consecutive title (end of last season included)
- another 18th victory in a row
- un second consecutive first title of the season in Riyadh
Beyond the trophy, it's a symbolic hierarchy change .
A dynamic clearly in favor of the world number 1
Today, the trend is clear:
- dominance in direct confrontations
- consistent presence in the final
- ability to raise the level in key moments
Galán remains ultra consistent with Chingotto, but still cannot reverse the dynamic against the No. 1 pair.
Coello, the other figure that stands out
In the shadow of this Tapia-Galán duel, Arturo Coello continues to rack up records .
The Spaniard is now the player who has won the most titles Premier Padel : 47 , and is gradually approaching the overall total of Galán.
A new statistical era
Tapia's overtaking is not just another number:
- he rewards the structural domination de Tapia / Coello
- He validates the change of cycle at the top of world padel
- he places the Argentinian as the current statistical reference
And given the dynamics, The gap could widen even further. in the coming months.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
