Victory in 3 sets (7/6, 6/7, 6/2) for the Franco-Spanish pair Araceli Martinez / Alix Collombon against the qualified pair Carlotta Casali / Alba Gallardo Salvado in the 16th finals of Valladolid Premier Padel P2.
Good news for Collombon and Martinez, who were able to take advantage of a (finally!) favourable draw on the professional circuit to reach the round of 1. Next round, they will face the world's number one pair, Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria, who currently dominate the padel planet in the women's category. Unless there is an earthquake, the Franco-Spanish pair will have a hard time stopping the tournament's number XNUMX seeds.
The goal here will be to see what resistance Martinez and Collombon can offer against the best in the world of women's padel. We will also have to be careful on a physical level, because we remember that Alix Collombon had a big scare last Sunday during the final of the French Championships, with significant pain in her wrist. Clearly, the care has helped to alleviate this discomfort.
For Alix Collombon, it will be essential to find the right balance, because the Paris Major remains in her sights, and she wants to participate at 100% of her physical capacity.
Alix tells us more about her match and her wrist:
“We had a hard time getting through it, we didn't play a very good match. The opponents played very well, and we had a hard time. We led a little in all the sets, but we always had trouble finishing. It's a match that we won, once again, thanks to our mental strength, but it's good to get through it, even if we didn't play very well.
Regarding my wrist, it was strapped to hold it in place. I played under anti-inflammatories to reduce the pain, and it held up pretty well. Since it's a big inflammation, the anti-inflammatories help a little.
I was able to play, I won't say without pain, but in any case with much less pain, that's really the positive point. We only play again on Thursday, and tomorrow, I'm going to concentrate on the care. I'm not going to train or very little. Thursday, we have a very tough match, we'll see what happens."
