Beautiful people and a few firecrackers : this is what certainly awaits us today in Valladolid for this P2 with the appearance of P1.
The top 4 seeds face off in the women's competition
On the women's side, the logic was respected in the draw and the 4 seeded players are there. From noon, Delfi Brea and the young Barcelona player Andrea Ustero Prieto will test themselves against the recent queens of Madrid, Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez. An excellent challenge to take up for Brea/Ustero, who after a sluggish start (victory in 3 sets against Arruabarrena/Bautista in the 1/16th) found automatisms against Merino/Carnicero (6/2 6/2). We will see at the end of this confrontation if Bea Gonzalez actually has some to worry about...
This match will be followed, on the central track, by a classic: Sanchez/Josemaria against Ortega/Araujo. The top seeds, victorious in Rotterdam, have not been troubled so far (withdrawal of Ana Nogueira in the previous round). Will Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo be able to do it?
The final in sight for King Arthur!
In the men's competition, there should be some movement and especially some nice par 3s and par 4s. On a fast track, Pablo Cardona and Francisco Navarro (TS5) will challenge Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan (TS2) in the third rotation. Since the start of the tournament, Galan seems to be gradually getting back to his level and "Chingalan" won yesterday in two sets (6/3 6/4) against the promising (and powerful) Alex Chozas and Leo Augsburger. Will Paquito and the gunner Cardona be able to pull off a masterstroke by exploiting the fast playing conditions in Valladolid? This will be the big challenge in this game, where we will also have to take into account a Chingotto who no longer hesitates to put a little more into play high up the court.
The last match of the day will pit Coello/Tapia against Lebron/Di Nenno. Rather convincing in their quarter-final last night against Alonzo/Gonzalez (6/3 6/4), "El Lobo" and "El Turco" will have to raise their level of play against Agustin Tapia and Arturo Coello. Originally from the region, King Arthur sees the final within reach and we can easily imagine his level of motivation!
