On the occasion of the creation of the first international steering committee of Premier Padel , we met  Vincent Laureyssens , Director of  Brussels P2  and now  official representative of P2 tournaments  within this new strategic body. He looks back with us at the ambitions of this committee, how it operates, and the first projects to come.

Why a steering committee now?

It was  five years  that we dreamed of such a committee. There was a lack of space where  all the players in padel  could really exchange. This committee brings together players (from the top 8 to the top 150), coaches, referees, promoters, media, federations, brands... We will be able to  listen to needs, share successes and identify areas for improvement together This is a major step forward for the circuit.  Premier Padel  warned us some time ago to be  patient regarding the creation of such a device , and they kept their commitment on this point.

How will this committee work?

We will  a first meeting on September 10  At Roland-Garros, this will bring together all the stakeholders of this steering committee. The idea is to see each other  every two months , with a clear agenda.

On my side for the P2 tournaments we will create  workgroups  between the P2 promoters that I represent for  synthesize everyone's experiences  : what works, what doesn't work, what needs to be improved as a priority.

 It is collaborative, constructive and concrete , these actions will benefit the  9 current P2s of the circuit  : Brussels, Bordeaux, Gijon, Valladolid, Dusseldorf, Cancun, Asuncion, Giza and the last one in Scandinavia. (the latter which did not take place this year)

What are the short-term goals?

First,  fill the stadiums earlier In Brussels, we are fully booked from Tuesday. For that, you have to  attract people beyond padel , focus on the setting, the entertainment, the social networks, the pricing policy and place the  padel rather as a bonus.  We remain clear-headed about our sport and we know that for the moment it is not yet what attracts the crowds. To support this point,  at P2 in Brussels out of the 75 spectators welcomed,  Many come with their families to walk around and have a good time before coming across the padel tournament and becoming interested in it.

We will share these strategies with other tournaments. Then, we need to  improve conditions for players  without harming the economic balance of the developers. The goal is a  global win-win  for everyone and  encourage developers to continue investing  on this magnificent circuit.

And in the long term?

The ultimate goal is clear:  make padel an Olympic sport in 2032  in Brisbane. For that, we must  raising standards around the world , whether in terms of organization, images, attendance or even media quality.
This committee is a  sustainable structure to further professionalize our sport We have the right profiles around the table, and Premier Padel had the intelligence to trust all the actors.  This is a historic turning point  for the global padel ecosystem and we are convinced that this committee can really  push our sport into a new dimension.
