Wayne Boich: “Pickleball helped padel grow”

La Reserve Cup is preparing to settle in Spain. 18 20 in September , Marbella will host the event at the prestigious Puente Romano Resort . On the occasion of this arrival in Europe, its founder and CEO Wayne boich gave an interview to the daily newspaper BRAND, in which he discusses the vision and ambitions of his project.

After two successful editions in Miami, the American brand Reserve , born in 2023 as a concept combining high-end padel and lifestyle , continues its international expansion with a stage which will bring together the biggest names on the circuit: Coello, Tapia, Galán.. .

“Marbella, a natural choice”

For Wayne Boich, the choice of Andalusia was obvious:

“Spain is the land of padel and Marbella is an iconic place. When we visited Puente Romano, we knew it was the perfect place.”

Founded in 2023, Reserve has expanded across the United States, with five active clubs already operating. The ambition is clear: to combine top-level competition, a premium spectator experience, and a community spirit.

A series that is going international

After Miami, the Reserve Cup opens up to Europe and is already looking towards 2026:

“We launched the Reserve Cup to bring padel to the highest level in the United States, in a unique format. In 2026, it will become a series of three tournaments, and we will return to Miami before the start of the Premier season.”

Wayne Boich even announced the confirmed presence of Coello, Tapia and Galán for the 2026 edition.

Between spectacle and tradition

For Boich, padel must find its balance between sporting tradition and spectacle:

“I see padel as a mix between the essence of tennis and a touch of NBA. You have to maintain the respect due to the pros, but also put on a show with music, entertainment, and real storytelling.”

This vision is also reflected in the pro-ams organized by Reserve in the United States. Starting in 2026, an official series will offer four stops in Miami, New York, the Hamptons and Los Angeles.

The role of stars and the comparison with pickleball

The arrival of Arturo Coello in Miami was a real turning point for American padel:

“Having a world number one training here has been a game changer. More and more young people are identifying with him, and other stars will follow.”

As to pickleball , Boich does not see it as a threat but as a catalyst:

“Pickleball has given racquet sports visibility. Many people then discover padel. It's not a competition, it's a gateway.”

A complementary project to Premier Padel

Finally, Boich insists that the Reserve Cup is not intended to compete Premier Padel :

“We're not here to replace Premier. We want to organize iconic events that are as much an experience as a tournament, and that help padel grow around the world.”

With the Reserve Cup Marbella , the project is reaching a symbolic milestone. Between international dimension, world stars and the ambition to create a new showcase for padel, Wayne Boich confirms his intention: to make Reserve an essential brand, well beyond the courts.
