It was in the heart of the P2000 of the Impact Stadium that we met Wendy Barsotti. Always so available, she gave an interview for Padel Magazine. A look back at an eventful 2024 and his plans for 2025.
A mixed journey in 2024
Wendy Barsotti begins the exchange by looking back on her year 2024:
“I started the year by leaving Barcelona to return to Montpellier, where I continue to train. The beginnings were promising with good results on the FIP circuit, a final and a semi-final in particular. But, little by little, my personal life took over. At 28 years old – or “18 plus 10” as I like to say – I felt the need to think about my future off the field.”
The absence of selection in the French team marked a turning point in his season:
“After my good performances at the beginning of the year, I was hoping to be able to join the team for the European Championships. Not being selected was a disappointment, a hard blow. I had to ask myself the right questions: continue to fight or refocus on other priorities? I chose to think about myself.”
A change of direction in 2025
Wendy is now looking towards a more national programme:
"I will be seen less internationally, but much more on the P1500 and P2000 in France. My goal is to combine pleasure and competition, sharing moments with my friends and enjoying nearby tournaments."
She also discusses personal projects:
"I am a trainer at TFP this year, an experience that fascinates me. With Valentin Porte, we are working on a project to create a structure in Montpellier. It is still in progress, we are looking for land, but it is a goal that motivates me enormously. Maybe one day, I will organize my own tournament in my club."
The return of an iconic duo?
Asked whether she will play with Élodie Invernon again, Wendy confirms:
"Yes, we will do tournaments together again. We stopped playing on the international circuit, which was difficult because finding a partner with whom we get on so well, on and off the field, is not easy. Our ambitions are now focused on pleasure and national competition. Invernon/Barsotti is a duo that has marked my career and that will return in 2025."
Wendy concludes on an optimistic note:
"Today I want to enjoy every moment, whether in national competitions or in my personal projects. But I am not closing the door to a more intense return in the future."
