Since the start of the 2024 season, we unfortunately cannot hide it, the French have been missing from the debates on the circuit Premier Padel. This year again, world padel has shown us that the level continues to increase, with increasingly precocious players in the most advanced rounds of tournaments.
We of course think of the UFO Claudia fernandez, which has a string of good results alongside Gemma Triay (although no title won yet)... or even for young people Andrea Ustero et Alejandra Alonso, capable of bringing out the best world pairs.
But in all this, where are the French players?
Well, among the ladies, we inevitably think of Alix Collombon. The French number 1 is experiencing some difficulties at the start of the season. It must be said that the Lyonnaise started a new adventure, after the start of the season, with Julieta Bidahorria. The Argentine who is coming back from injury and who, unsurprisingly, must also find her bearings on the track... but also alongside Alix.
For now, results are struggling to come for the Franco-Argentinian pair. However, the season is still long and we can expect to see Alix again later in the tournaments.
Another name that comes to mind: Léa Godallier. The latter has been missing since the beginning of the year and, it must be said, for a very good reason. The Frenchwoman became a mother and therefore took a short retirement for a few months. However, Léa will be back in action, shortly, during the P2 in Bordeaux which will take place in two weeks. To resume, it will be associated with Charlotte Soubrié.
Among men, with the retirement of Benjamin Tison, the new French number 1 is Thomas Leygue. The latter is also lacking results at the start of the season, on the Premier Padel. It must be said that the French player changed teammates in the middle of the season.
Now associated with Alvaro Montiel, Thomas Leygue must regain some automatisms with his new partner. Once this is done, we should be able to find the player of Home Padel in the final tables.
We also think of other French, which we often find in the previas: Carla Touly, Jessica Ginier, Élodie Invernon (who made several main paintings), Dylan Guichard, Bastien Blanqué, Max Moreau or, Jo bergeron...
Many French people, no significant results yet... However, with the armada that we have in France, we can expect to have great successes for this 2024 season.
It was her brother who one day told her to accompany him to a padel court, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the retransmission of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
