Le Padel Club de Lyon hosted this weekend the regional stage of Head Padel Open, one of the biggest padel tournaments of the year with the best French pairs.
GINIER / COLLOMBON confirms
We had already said so in our previous papers. A French pair can dethrone the French champions: Lyonnaises Alix Collombon and Jessica Ginier.
Before talking about this beautiful final, we have to come back to the shock at the ladies of this tournament: Collombon / Ginier Vs Clergue / Casanova.
In this semi-final, the final before the hour, the two favorite pairs of the competition clashed… Finally one could say. Because this duel was long overdue.
A match yet almost mastered from start to finish for the local pair. The big match expected was beautiful but too short perhaps.
In the first set, these two very good tennis players (both negative) and doubles tennis champions (playing together) show an aggressiveness at the net and in the game that surprise the champions of France. Lyon win the 1er set 6 / 2.
In the second set, Clergue / Casanova is block but not enough. The game is fast and at this game, the Lyon are very good. Yet at the end of the second set, they slow down the game, and we feel then Clergue / Casanova back in this match to the point of being able to pass in front of 5 everywhere. But the Lyon women finally won this match on the final score of 6 / 2 7 / 5.

In the final, we found the Toulouse pair Léa Godallier / Marianne VANDAELE. An equally aggressive pair that resembles in the type of game the winners of the day. In the semi-final, she passed the Godard / Sorel cape on abandonment. Sandy injured herself on a ball and forced her to forfeit. Let's hope that this injury does not have an impact on the interregionals of the French padel championships.
Alix Collombon / Jessica GINIER beat Léa Godallier / Marianne VANDAELE 6-2 6-4.
Bergeron / Blanqué: STRIKE
It was important not to get in the way of Bergeron / Blanqué this weekend. Not a lost set and a level of play that confirms that the best French pair of the moment is her.
Even the Ritz / Scatena pair will not be able to do much in the semifinals (6 / 3 6 / 4).
In the final, against Aitor Garcia Bassas (ESP) / Max Moreau (FRA), the French pair was a tone above the whole match, even if at the end of the match it was more complicated to conclude.
Victory for Bastien Blanqué / Johan Bergeron over Aitor Garcia Bassas / Max Moreau: 6-3 7-5 and the French put an end to this diction: “You have to have your Spanish to win a big tournament".
