In the aftermath of the French Championships of padel and after the P2000 of the Pyramids, one wonders which players will represent France in Qatar.

In the coming days, the coaches of the French men's and women's teams will have the heavy task of announcing the names of the players who will fly in Qatar from November 15 to 20.

At the girls

Léa Godallier and Alix Collombon, winners of the last two P2000s, French champions and captains of the team for several years, will inevitably be part of the trip.

Third in the French Championships and 4th in the P2000 des Pyramides, the experienced Mai Vo and Amélie Detrivière should in all likelihood carry out a new international campaign.

In view of his level displayed in recent weeks, punctuated by a semi-final and two finals, Elodie Invernon looks very good on its way to debuting in blue. A true left-wing player, she has a very interesting profile, and given her young age she should be one of the best French players for a while yet.

Behind these 5 players who seem certain to fly to Qatar, the hierarchy seems difficult to find.

Like Élodie, Fiona Ligi could also take its first steps with the France team. At only 22, she has a lot of experience despite her young age, and she could be a key part of the team in a few years. Her and Melissa Martin finished 3rd in the P2000 des Pyramides, and lost in the quarterfinals at the French Championships against two players from the selection: Mai Vo and Amélie Detrivière.

Charlotte Soubrié and Marianne Vandaele, present during the last campaigns, were eliminated in the quarter-finals in Perpignan and the Pyramids (by Ligi / Martin) then advanced to the semi-final in Cabriès. If Charlotte has an interesting profile since she is able to evolve on the left as on the right, Marianne seems a tone below. Will she pay the price for the emergence of new players?

Then the pair Barsotti / Pothier interrogates. These two fairly new players in the padel seem to have the whole future ahead of them. In the previous two tournaments, their results have been a step below those of the pairs mentioned above, with losses in the quarterfinals each time. Fifth in the French Championships, they still remain on a victory against Ligi / Martin. In Perpignan, they had also beaten Vandaele / Soubrié. Present in Marbella, will Wendy be called again? Lucile still showed beautiful things, enough to fly to Qatar?

How not to mention Géraldine Sorel, finalist at the Pyramids and the French Championships. Can the veteran return to the selection thanks to her recent results?

The case of Tiffany Phaysouphanh is also to be mentioned. This 22-year-old tenniswoman arrives in the padel and wins the P1000 of Win Win Nîmes alongside Deborah Alquier. In this tournament, the two players will have beaten Barsotti / Pothier and Invernon / Sorel in quick succession. At P2000 des Pyramides, they lost in the revenge against Wendy and Lucile, in the super tie-break. Maybe not enough to upset the hierarchy at the last minute ...

In any case, we wouldn't like to be in the place of Robin Haziza who must be racking their brains right now!

In boys

For Alexis Salles, the task still seems a little easier. Already, because 4 players seem above the lot and they will inevitably be part of the trip. We are of course talking about the winners and finalists of the French Championship: Benjamin Tison, Johan Bergeron, Bastien Blanqué and Thomas Leygue.

Top ranked French in World Padel Tour, Bergeron and Tison won the P2000 in Perpignan and the 2021 French Championships. Beaten in the eighth by Britos / Inzerillo at the Pyramids after a big fight, they nonetheless remain the number 1 pair in France. .

Thomas Leygue, who seemed to be on a complicated slope since the last European Championships, has come back stronger than ever. Thomas and Bastien said it to our microphones : “We had bad results. It was complicated but we worked a lot. And today we see the result, even if we are still far from our objectives ”.
On these last two tournaments, Thomas has clearly secured a place among the 8. Bastien, he is still and always one of the bosses of the selection.

Behind, the player who we think made the most impression is Max Moreau. Revenge after being snubbed at the selection camp, the 34-year-old showed a very good level on the APT Padel Tour, before a final at the Pyramids (with the Spaniard Victor Saenz). If he and Jerome Inzerillo were defeated in the eighth at the French Championships, we can say that they had the misfortune of falling on the pair in the shape of the hexagon: Blanqué / Leygue. Inzerillo can boast of being the first French to have beaten the numbers 1 Johan Bergeron and Benjamin Tison, at the Pyramids, in front of his audience, with a certain Andrés Britos.

The choices are complicated for the coach. Jérémy Scatena has alternated between good and bad in recent weeks and he was absent from the French Championships. Enough for the coach to ignore one of the team's tauliers in recent years?

The other question concerns the pair Maigret / Peyrou who nevertheless made a semi-final at the FIP Rise in Canet and at the P2000 des Pyramides, but who passed through in other tournaments, with defeats in the eighth in Perpignan and at the French Championships. Beaten in qualifying during the APT Monaco Master, Adrien and Jean-Thomas are not having a good time. The Parisian, pillar of the selection in recent years seems still protected by his status. Could Bordeaux on the other hand bear the brunt of these disappointing results?

Indeed, if Max Moreau joins the team, at least one player who was present in Marbella will have to be ousted. JT Peyrou, one of the strong men who scored in the last European Championships could be in the hot seat.

Behind, the aspirants provided a real roller-coaster performance and no one clearly stood out. The coach could still be interested in profiles. There is a fairly large group of players, including Yann Auradou, Loïc Le Panse, Lilian Fouré, François Authier, Justin Lopes, Rémy Gourre, Jérôme Ferrandez, Simon Boissé or even Jean-Michel Pequery, Jérémy Ritz, Ludovic Cancel , Benjamin Grué ...
