The windows of a “pista” are essential for the smooth running of a game of padel. And yet, their maintenance is sometimes neglected, or even simply forgotten. A mistake that club owners must correct.

Humidity, the enemy of windows

Whether indoors or outdoors, humidity in the windows can compromise the practice of padel. Changes in temperature cause fogging to appear, which can distort bounces against the walls. The ball, for its part, absorbs water and becomes heavier and heavier. This affects the durability of the racket and the quality of the game, since certain shots become harder to perform (e.g. lobs).

Watch out for sweat!

When the heat is on, players tend to wipe their hands on the windows. They must therefore be cleaned regularly to prevent them from getting dirty. On the international circuit, the walls are washed several times during each match: between sets, after the match or in case of special request. The famous “José The Best” revealed his advice to us when World Padel Tour in Toulouse, in 2023 : pay attention to silicone seals, use the appropriate equipment to clean and avoid abrasive products.

What are the risks ?

Regular window maintenance will prevent them from breaking easily. We recommend checking all the screws at least every three months, because bouncing balls and play in general cause the hooks to work. If you find a crack, don't play with fire: an exploding window can have dramatic consequences. Paquito Navarro escaped with a big scare in Portugal, five years earlier.

You understand, cleaning the windows is not an option. Raclette will be your pal’s best friend…

It was through his father that Auxence discovered the padel, one evening in June 2018. Today, he passionately follows the international circuit and teases the pala in his training club, Toulouse Padel Club. You can also find it on La Feuille de Match and LesViolets.com, two specialist media on Toulouse Football Club.
