A question that regularly comes up among readers of Padel Magazine : why Spanish Arturo Coello is he the world number one individually, while the Argentinian Agustin Tapia is world number two, while the two players have been playing together for almost two years?

The answer lies in the transition between the World Padel Tour et Premier Padel, as well as in the period when Tapia and Coello were not yet playing together in 2022. Some tournaments from this period are still included in the final ranking of 2024, because the rankings are smoothed over several years.

In terms of statistics, one important title makes the difference: the Major of Mexico. Coello had beaten Tapia/Sanyo in the final with another partner. This title is therefore attributable to Coello only, which partly explains the difference in ranking. In addition, a few other 2022 events still have a slight impact on the current ranking, but this effect will fade away soon.

Arturo Coello statistics:

  • Ranking : 1 (16219 dots)
  • Matches played : 136
  • Matches won : 121
  • Lost matches : 15
  • Consecutive wins : 25
  • Efficiency : 89,0%
  • Securities : 15

Agustin Tapia statistics:

  • Ranking : 2 (15585 dots)
  • Matches played : 119
  • Matches won : 108
  • Lost matches : 11
  • Consecutive wins : 25
  • Efficiency : 90,8%
  • Securities : 14

These are the statistics of the two players on a game of 2022 (tournaments recognized for the ranking for Premier Padel) to 2024.
