Ricardo Oliveira , the current president of the Portuguese Padel Federation, has formalized this Tuesday his candidacy for the presidency of Sporting Club de Portugal . The Portuguese does not have good relations with Luigi Carraro , president of the FIP, which kept Portugal away from international competitions in 2021.
"I want to be the next president, not because I want to be a protagonist, which I have always avoided, but because I am convinced that only with rational, ambitious and professional management in all sectors of the club that we can eliminate the gap that separates us from our rivals”, he announced during the presentation on Tuesday.
“I am not running against anyone, but I understood that I had to take this step because the “sportinguistas” must reflect on the reality of the club and realize the difficulties that await us if we continue on this path”He says.
The elections are scheduled for March 5, and it is hard to believe that Ricardo Oliveira could pursue these two missions at the same time. Portugal will no doubt want to renew contact with the FIP in this context of international transformation of padel, and the departure of the current president could finally make things easier.

From his names, we can guess his Spanish and Italian origins. Lorenzo is a multilingual passionate about sports: journalism by vocation and events by worship are his two legs. He is the international gentleman of Padel Magazine. You will often see him at various international competitions, but also at major French events. @eyeofpadel on Instagram to see his best padel photos!
