Agustín Gómez Silingosurnamed the beast for his powerful game, his impressive physique and his combative temperament, is an essential figure of the argentine padel.

Born on August 1, 1983 in La Plata, in Argentina, Silingo quickly integrated into the world of padel. As early as 1999, the Argentinian showed promising signs by participating in the Junior World Cup. However, it was in 2004 that he took a step forward by joining the professional circuit in Spain, a country where padel is growing in popularity and attracting the best international players. By settling in Spain, Silingo began a career that led him to play alongside high-level partners, such as Maxi Grabiel.

A shock duo

Silingo and Maxi Grabiel form a remarkable duo on the international scene. In 2008, they won the Master of Valladolid, a prestigious tournament, beating in the final Fernando Belasteguín et Juan Martín Díaz, then the best players in the world. In 2010, Silingo and Grabiel confirmed their understanding by winning the Master of Madrid, thus solidifying their reputation and inscribing their names among the feared pairs of the time.

A multitude of changes

After his journey with Grabiel, Silingo forms a new pair with Gabi RecaTogether, they won the Córdoba tournament by beating the pair composed of Miguel Lamperti et Cristian Gutiérrez, two other emblematic figures of padel.

In 2016, Silingo joined forces with Adrián Allemandi, another top player with whom he will try to conquer new titles. That same year, he represented theArgentina when World Padel Championship in Portugal. Although his meeting with Maxi Sánchez ended in defeat, Argentina won the world title, and Silingo actively contributed to this collective success, thus adding a world champion title to his list of achievements.

Injury and progressive decline

The 2017 season marks a difficult turning point for Silingo: a shoulder injury sidelined him for several months, slowing down his ambitions. After intense rehabilitation, he returned to the circuit in 2018, once again alongside Adrián Allemandi. However, this period of his career was marked by mixed performances and results below his expectations.

Retirement and transition to coaching

A month before his 41st birthday, Agustín Silingo decides to bow out, playing his last professional match in July 2024 at Malaga next to Gustavo Nunes, although they lost in the first round. His transition was quick: Silingo became coach of Juan Lebrón (Spanish) and Martín Di Nenno (Argentine), two players of the world elite. Lebrón, born on January 31, 1995, and Di Nenno, born on March 18, 1997, are currently fifth and sixth in the world.
