While 50% of this season of World Padel Tour has just played out, the tension in the race for first place is more than palpable.

AlthoughAlejandro galan et Juan lebron are in the lead for the moment, the current number 1 have more points to defend than Fernando Belasteguin during the second part of the season. His partner sanyo gutierrez is also in ambush, and although a little behind in the ranking, he will inevitably end up catching his teammate, and even overtaking him since he participated in one more tournament this season (Bela was injured in Marbella).

Also pay attention to Agustin Tapia and Pablo Lima who arrive more motivated than ever with two coronations in their pockets this year and an unfailing determination. Will the Brazilian and the Argentine continue their momentum?

The holidays are over for the players and it is with the Cascais Master that they will start their return

Galan and Lebron favorites

The Spaniards have shown since their union in 2019 that they are the team to beat. Sacred number 1 in the 2019-2020 season, their first year was great and the results accumulated over this period allowed them to take the advantage over the other pairs of the circuits in terms of points.

However, this year the duo do not dominate as much as last year and the game of musical chairs between the players did not make it easy for them.

Indeed, although they have won 3 tournaments this season, we are far from the domination displayed last year at the same time. Their main rivals in this title race will certainly be Fernando Belasteguin (3th) and his partner sanyo gutierrez (4st).

The number 2 pair, with three titles won, has a chance to turn things around, although it remains behind the Spaniards to Race.

Ale Galan Juan Lebron WPT Valencia Open 2021

A decisive month of September

The start of the school year promises to be completely crazy because the next tournaments will be decisive for the players.

4 tournaments will be linked without pause, then 5 others which will be added until the Master Final.

In this second part of the season, the players have to play:

  • 3 Masters (Cascais, Buenos Aires, Barcelona)
  • 6 Opens (Sardinia, Lugo, Menorca, Cordoba, Sweden, Mexico)

Fernando Belasteguin will seek to grab the 2 points distancing him from the current No. 465s.
The positive point for Bela is that at the end of October, after contracting COVID-19, the Argentinian had missed a tournament (Alicante Open). The Spaniards will have to win the tournament which will take place on that date in 2021 in order not to lose points.

The Tapia / Lima surprise?

If these 4 players should be wary of another pair, it is the one composed by Agustin Tapia and Pablo Lima.

After a complicated start, this pair seems to be on the rise. The Brazilian's experience and the Argentinian's ardor go hand in hand, so much so that they were unplayable just before the break.

With now 4 titles in their pocket, and only 615 points behind Bela in the Race, the 5th and 6th players in the standings are in full swing, and there is no doubt that they will put pressure on their opponents to the end! The end of the season promises to be the most exciting for the men of the WPT!
