It is done ! Just after winning a second Challenger, Alix Collombon and Jessica Castello enter for the first time together in the quarterfinals of a WPT Open!

We could feel it coming this morning. Full of confidence after winning their second Challenger of 2021 at Alfafar, Alix Collombon and Jessica Castello looked stronger than ever. Opposed to two excellent players but who start as a pair, we felt the possible feat. And it did take place this afternoon in Cordoba!

Facing Bea Gonzalez and Marta Ortega, Alix and Jessica managed to win 3 games in a row in the first round when they were down 5/4. A first surprise for the Frenchwoman and her partner who took a set from the 10th and 12th players in the world!

The reaction of the favorites was not long in coming! Annoyed, the players of Carlos Pozzoni passed a 6/1 to Alix and Jessica to pick up a set everywhere.

The third set was totally hot, the two pairs ending in an unbreathable tie-break finally won 8/6 by Castello and Collombon!

Tomorrow they will therefore play their first quarter-final together at a WPT Open. It will face Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria, seeded number 2 in the tournament. For a new feat? It would be just amazing!
