After a week of grandiose competition where the beauty of the game was once again in the spotlight, the Centro Multiusos de Las Rozas has just closed its doors.

A good opportunity for us to review the highlights of the tournament as well as the slightly more difficult times for some players.

TOPS

In the men

Of course it goes without saying that in this TOP we will start with Pablo Lima and Agustin Tapia here win their first title together.

Indeed, after a very good performance in the final against the Argentines Bela and Sanyo, the Argentino - Brazilian pair gets their well-deserved first coronation! Indeed, the level of play of Lima and Tapia will have been enormous with in particular a victory in straight sets against Lebron and Galan in the semifinals!

Then we will quote Miguel Lamperti and his new partner, the young nugget Miguel Yanguas.
The two players who played their first tournament together showed us the full extent of their talent. The chemistry between them was present throughout the competition and as proof for a first, they managed to reach the quarter-finals being eliminated by the number 1 pair, Bela - Sanyo in a very close match 7-6 (5) / 5-7 / 5-7.

The day before they had created a surprise by overcoming another very solid pair, the one made up of Paquito Navarro and Martin Di Nenno - 4-6 / 6-3 / 6-7 (5)
Promising results for the rest of the season.

In the ladies

Let us quote first of all the third coronation of Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez.
Throughout the competition they will have been a real steamroller, not losing a single set.
They imposed themselves without much pressure in the face of Martas in the final with a score of 6-2 / 6-1.

Moreover, it is on the latter that we are going to focus now.
Indeed Marta Ortega and Marta Marrero returned to victory in Madrid. Although they were unable to find the loophole in their opponents in the final, the Madrilenian and her partner managed to regain their level and advance to their first final together since their return as a pair. Very good news for the future.
To see on the next meetings if they can confirm!

Finally to close this Top, it would be wise to mention the surprise created by the pair Veronica Virseda - Lucia Martinez face Patricia Llaguno and Virginia Riera by eliminating them in the Round of 1 8-6 / 4-1 / 6-6.
The two players who left as outsiders managed to turn the situation around and overcome the favorites who had been in great shape for a few weeks. Their defeat in three sets against Brea / Icardo is obviously very encouraging.

FLOPS

In the men

What could have marked us during the latter World Padel Tour Las Rozas Open it is above all the prompt elimination of Momo Gonzalez and Javier Rico during the 1/16 finals against Mati Diaz and José D. Sanchez.
The Spaniards lost 6-3 / 3-6 / 4-6.

Despite a first set in their favor, the winners of the Marbella Challenger did not manage to get rid of these two players who were playing their first tournament together. They will be expected this week in Lerma.

The other disappointing pair is obviously the one made up of Juan Tello and Federico Chingotto, who could not do better than a loss in the quarterfinals, and in straight sets against Capra / Sanchez. Clearly, the two young Argentines have not yet found the magic formula in 2021.

In the ladies

Of course the most striking event for our female friends is the elimination of pair number 1, Gemma Triay / Alejandra Salazar from the quarter-finals.

The Spanish pair fell in the face of Martas in 3 sets 5-7 / 6-3 / 6-7 (3). the end of the match was intense but they made too many mistakes to rule out a pair who were not yet confident. They will have to recover quickly if they want to keep their lead in the standings!

Finally, as mentioned a little above, it is the defeat of Patty Llaguno and Virginia Riera from the eighth which surprised everyone because the two players had accustomed us to better since the beginning of the year. They will be expected around the corner in Malaga!
