Video review of the quarter-finals of World Padel Tour Adeslas Madrid Open 2021 which were played yesterday at the WiZink Center. It's time for the semi-finals today.

At the girls

Among the girls, following the withdrawal of Navarro / Nogueira, only three quarter-finals were disputed. Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez showed that they would have to be counted on with their victory in two sets (7/6 6/1) against the Alayeto twins. They face in the semi-finals Delfi Brea and Tamara Icardo, who dominated, by the same score, the surprising Aranzazu Osoro and Victoria Iglesias !

After an impressive first act, the big favorites Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar had a little less good in the second set against Llaguno / Riera, but they finally came out: 6/1 7/6. In front of them today, they are the former partner of Gemma, Lucia Sainz, and her new teammate Bea Gonzalez who will present themselves today. This new pair had a day off yesterday so they should arrive in great shape!

Note that the four pairs who will play today in the semi-finals play their first WPT. For this resumption tournament, we could think that the pairs with more automatisms like Ortega / Marrero or Alayeto / Alayeto would do well. Finally, it is the freshness that prevails over the experience during this Adeslas Madrid Open!

In the men

As with the girls, all the duets that we will find today are new associations. We expected Lebron / Galan and Chingotto / Tello but these two teams were respectively defeated by Stupaczuk / Ruiz et Lima / Tapia after epic matches. These new pairs prove that you don't have to have shared the track for months to be successful. Stupa / Ruiz and Lima / Tapia will face off at the end of the afternoon for a match that promises to be incredible.

Yesterday morning, they are Coello / Lamperti et Belasteguin / Gutierrez who won respectively against Ramirez / Yanguas and Sans / Zaratiegui, two duets from the previas ! Victories in two sets against pairs necessarily a little blunt since they were playing their fifth game in four days! Arturo Coello, great hope of padel global this morning will play the first semi-final of his young career on the World Padel Tour. What could be better for the occasion than to face two legends of the sport, Stupa and Sanyo. Lamperti is celebrating his return to this level after nearly two years of famine. We imagine that he will be particularly keen to shine!

The semi-finals program

  •  16h : Josemaria / Sanchez vs Brea / Icardo
