Le World Padel Tour Marbella Master ended this Sunday and once again we were treated to a great show.

Some pairs have impressed while others have (again) disappointed. We come back to the highlights of the tournament with the Top / Flop.

In the ladies

TOP

First of all we find naturally Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria, the two happy champions of this last edition World Padel Tour.
Indeed, they won their second title this year by defeating Patricia Llaguno and Virginia Riera in a beautiful final played under the scorching sun of Andalusia.

We can also quote the big finalists of this tournament, Patty Llaguno and his Argentinian partner. Note that for the Spanish player, this year marks her comeback at the highest level.
Since this new association with Virginia Riera, the former number 1 has a series of victories and good results. In the last three editions, there are three finals with a title of champions as a bonus. The Hispano-Argentinian pair has not finished talking about it in 2021!

Carolina Navarro et Cecilia Reiter managed to win two games last week, despite having won none since the start of the year! A quarter-final that pleases veterans.
This will perhaps allow them to regain a bit of confidence and to approach Valladolid more calmly.

Finally in the women's category, we could not conclude this top without mentioning the surprise of this year, a pair which is causing a sensation not only by its regularity but also by its technical level which improves over the competitions.
Of course we evoke the case Aranzazu Osoro et Victoria Iglesias who slipped once more into the semifinals with a third victory against the Martas ...

FLOPS

Obviously, we start the flop with these same Marta Marrero et Marta Ortega. Once again, Las Martas fell in the sixteenth. The old numbers 1 still fail to reach their old level. This third defeat against Iglesias / Osoro proves that this pair is their real pet peeve ...

Just like the latter we find the former teammate of Patty Llaguno, Eli Amatrian, alongside his partner Sofia Araujo.
This Marbella Master has not been a real success once again for the Spanish - Portuguese duo. Eliminated in the Round of 1 by Navarro / Reiter, Manu Martin's players did not even score a victory. It seems that this association has not yet borne fruit. To see if the alchemy arrives a little later in the season.

In the men

TOPS

It goes without saying that the first to integrate this top are the number 1, the winners of the latter World Padel Tour, Alejandro galan et Juan lebron.
Another coronation for the Andalusian and the Madrilenian. They now count three and do not intend to stop there.
In each match, these two players delight us and offer us a perfectly mastered level of play that leaves no chance for their rivals.

We also salute the performance of the finalists, Pablo Lima et Agustin Tapia. Although they could not do much in the final against the numbers 1, their course is quite honorable in view of the matches made. Remember that they eliminated Franco Stupazuck and Alejandro Ruiz in the quarter-final and Uri Botello - Javier Ruiz in 1/2 although the game ended with retirement following an injury.

Augustin Tapia on the fly at the marbella master

Mati Diaz et Agustin Sillingo have also proved that they still have it in their legs. After several tournaments without really finding the secret combination for victory, this time the two Argentines seem to have found it.
Arrived in the quarter-finals after eliminating Miguel Lamperti and Arturo Coello, who have started well since the start of the year, the veterans of the circuit had to bow to “Sevillian hurricane" Paquito Navarro et son partenaire Martin DiNenno, who still had a good tournament, with a new final!

Finally, to conclude these TOPS, we must salute the performance of a certain Augustin Gutierrez, nephew of the famous Mago de San Luiz, Sanyo Gutierrez.
He succeeded with his teammate Javier Martinez to reach the quarterfinals by beating his uncle and his cousin 1-4 (7) / 6-5!

FLOPS

The first that comes to mind is of course the defeat of Miguel Lamperti et Arturo Coello against a team less well ranked than them. Eliminated in the Round of 1 against Agustin Sillingo and “El Warrior” Mati Diaz, the Hispano - Argentinian pair did not show us a great level of play. They nevertheless accustomed us to better. To see what the next WPT in Valladolid has in store for them.

Finally, to conclude on these flops, we can quote the association between Juan Martin Diaz and Coki Nieto.
The two players stood out during this competition and it should be noted that these two have not managed to find the complicity they need on the field to tie with victory.
Exit the tournament in their first match against a lower ranked team, they decided to separate and announced it on their respective Instagram accounts.

Let's hope for them that their change of buddy will do them good and that they will soon be able to offer us the level of play that characterizes them! Respectively with Lijo and Allemandi? Stay tuned!
