This Friday during the quarter-finals of this WPT Mexico Open, we were once again treated to a great coaching lesson from Carlos Pozzoni. Los Superpibes are not the only ones who can benefit from “Charly’s” valuable advice. In fact, the two young players Veronica Virseda et Claudia jensen are also supervised by the Argentinian. Opposed during the quarter-finals to the number 4 seed, Alejandra Salazar and Sofia Araujo, the Spanish-Argentinian pair managed to create the feat of qualifying for the semi-final of this Open. While they were down 6/1, Carlos Pozzoni intervened to reboost his troops and took the opportunity to give them some advice which was more than beneficial to them.

“That we lose ok, but be courageous. We put back their service by playing low, by not giving them gifts on lobs which allow Sofia to win the point. The game can still be won, trust me, listen to me, let’s be smart when making decisions.”

Once again, the Argentinian technician was right and was able to find the fault as well as the words to allow his players to get back into the game. Claudia and Veronica followed their coach's advice and managed to reverse the trend, winning 1/6, 6/4, 6/4. They also qualify for a magnificent semi-final against the pair Brea / Gonzalez.
