Padel Magazine - Colorful day. At the Lisbon International Open, the leaders leave no room for outsiders to shine in this first tournament outside Spanish territory this season.

This first round was therefore unsurprising. The favorites are gone and we will see Friday 11 October 2013 certainly a little more suspense.

Throughout the day, many visitors, fans, and curious people came to the Lisboa Racket Center to see the best players in the world live. And as you would expect the show was there.

On the central court, for example, we had a generation conflict between Gastón Malacalza / Alejandro Ruiz Muñoz and Godo Díaz / Matías Marina. It was ultimately Malacalza and Ruiz Munoz who managed to win 7-5 and 7-6.

We also had a great show with Agustín Gómez Silingo alias the “gunner” and Federico Quiles who had a lot to do against the formidable pair Juan Romagosa-Ignacio Gadea. Favorites on paper, they had to fight hard to win in 3 sets: 6-7 6-2 7-5. It is a victory that risks costing them dearly because the physical battle was important.

Meanwhile, the two best players on the world circuit of Padel that we do not even present anymore, have comfortably and quickly clarified things against their opponents of the day. Juan Martín Díaz and Fernando Belasteguin therefore won 6-1 6-2 against Hector Marcos Perona and Raúl Durán who could not do anything.

Pablo Lima and Juani Mieres exhibited their talents by giving a lesson in padel to Cristian Calneggia and Gerardo Derito (6-0, 6-1).

For women, the situation on the pro circuit had to be clarified. Indeed, the women's circuit is currently criticized. The World Padel Tour also issued a statement indicating that he continues to support the women's circuit and his commitment to the professional women's circuit remains complete. There should be some clarifications this week but it has at least allowed to postpone any dissonance between the players and the WPT and prevent all the problems from erupting in the middle of the tournament, which more outside. The image of padel internationally would have taken a nasty blow.
