Discover the exclusive interview of Zinedine Zidane during the inauguration of Z5 Padel.
"It's really a super enjoyable sport"
Padel Magazine : First of all, how did you discover this sport?
Zinedine Zidane : " It was in Spain, in Madrid 6-7 years ago, with friends and family. In Spain it's a very well-known sport, and then it's a way to have fun when you get older! “

Padel Magazine : “For example, we could see that Sergio Ramos was a padel fan, did you have the opportunity to cross swords with him on a padel court?”
Zinedine Zidane : ”No, not with Sergio! I never had the opportunity to play with (or against) him in padel! It’s true that there are many, many former and current football players who play padel! It’s really a super enjoyable sport.”
“Padel is very complementary to football”
Padel Magazine : Marseille is a club that is dear to your heart. And it was Rudi Garcia, who coached OM in 2018, who during a pre-season training camp, organized matches on the padel courts. Could this have given you ideas, in terms of working on team cohesion?
Zinedine Zidane : ”Absolutely! Even if for group cohesion, sincerely we have a lot of tools! It is not necessarily the padel that will be the most effective, but to do something fun and have fun, padel is very complementary with football. “
”Zlatan x Zizou vs Ale Galan x Alex Ruiz”
Padel Magazine : You work with All for Padel, Adidas Padel, and it also happens that there is Padel Zenter with Ibrahimovic who has started in this sport. Can we hope to see a Zlatan x Zizou pair on a padel court?
Zinedine Zidane : " It wouldn't be bad, it would be a very good pareja as we say in Spanish. Zlatan, we can certainly do it when our paths cross, I sign! We can even do Zlatan and Zizou against Ale Galan and Alex Ruiz”
Padel Magazine : In padel are you a defender, or more offensive?
Zinedine Zidane : ”I attack, I am quite a forehand and I have a preference for the right side! “

Z5 padel: In France…and internationally
Padel Magazine : What is the program for Z5?
Zinedine Zidane : ”The program today is the inauguration of the Z5 Padel Aix. We are delighted to open these 4 padel courts, it is a good compromise with the 5-a-side football that we have had for about ten years now. There was a small place to put our 4 courts, it was really great to be able to be here today and to perhaps also have a new audience in this center. In the near future, we plan to open a Z5 foot center in Istres, and we will try to put 6 padel courts (with perhaps indoor).
Internationally, we have a Z5 Turin and the idea is to be able to insert padel courts there too. It's not yet a done deal but that's what we'd like to do."
Padel Magazine : Last question a little people. We see David Beckham, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga..many sports personalities are getting into padel, when will there be a celebrity padel tournament?
Zinedine Zidane : I think it can be done easily. And why not here at the Z5? I challenge all the personalities who would like to make this tournament here!
Passionate about football, I discovered padel in 2019. Since then, I have been crazy in love with this sport to the point of abandoning my favorite sport.
