Marseille: a big city lacking ski slopes padel

These last years, clubs and tracks padel have multiplied in France. Today, there are few areas where there is no at least one track. However, there are still a few cities that are still resisting the padelmania...

A lack of leads padel

In Marseille, there are clubs padel but, compared to the size of the city, the number is almost insignificant... 11 tracks of padel in total for 862.000 inhabitants, we'll let you calculate the ratio of lands per player...

• Le Tennis Park Marseille boasts 5 tracks outdoor.
• Le Tennis Academy of Luminy boasts 4 tracks outdoor.
• And the ASPTT recently acquired 2 tracks outdoor.

Of course, there are other clubs outside the city: Padel Bocage in Plan-de-Cuques, WinWin Padel in Cabriès or even The Peninsula Padel Cassis in Cassis. But when we know the traffic in the metropolis, we say to ourselves that this can cool down the padelists to go to these clubs at peak times.

“And we have to add 3 fields to the other club in Cassis which is called the Gorguettes. There are also 2 tracks at the Valentine indoor football club and 1 at Complex 13. In the very close outskirts of the southern capital (less than 15km), there are 3 pitches at La Bauquière (Allauch), 2 pitches At Padel Bocage (Plan de Cuques), without forgetting the 8 pitches at All In in Bouc Bel Air”, recalls Stephane Penso.

The municipal land solution

There is therefore a real need for avenues of padel for the Phocaean city. A necessity heard by the municipality since, in a handful of weeks, the first fields 100% municipal will open in the 12^e borough on the former site of the Trois-Lucs tennis club. Three tracks already ready which are just waiting for the green light from the municipality.

"This is the first time in France that land has been built by a municipality and completely managed by a community.“, declared the mayor of the 11th-12th arrondissements, Sylvain Souvestre, in charge of this project. From now on, all that remains is to know the rate applied... A deliberation at the next municipal council must establish them at 5 € per person for the residents of the area and 10€ for the general public. A price that defies all competition.

The construction of these municipal lands is in accordance with the recent comments of Éric Largeron, on the balance found between municipal clubs and private clubs.
