Padel : Anonymity at the Olympic Games

Remember, this sport is invented in the late 60 in Mexico by Enrique Corcuera. In the years 80 and 90, this sport is popularized and professionalized to the point of becoming one of the sports kings in Spain and Argentina with about 2.5 millions of practitioners.

Problem: Until the 2010s, the padel does not manage to develop elsewhere than in the Spanish speaking countries.

And then… There was something… A spark… which strangely caused, in the years 2012/2013, almost against the tide of the general atmosphere that prevailed then, the private structures gradually launched into the padel. The media are getting involved. The virtuous circle begins.

One of the first public men to believe in padel at the Olympics is the former Minister of Sports, Patrice Kanner. On August 29, 2016, the current senator from the North will explain at a time when Paris did not yet know that it was going to host the 2024 Olympics: " If France becomes the host country of the Olympic Games, we will push the padel to be part of Olympic sports. It's an incredible sport and we see here at the French Open of Padel, Place du Capitole in Toulouse, to what extent padel is popular."

The word is dropped. Unthinkable again 5 years ago, today everything becomes possible.
