The training of referee Padel like JAP2 has never been easier. The FFT has since set up November 1, 2020, an online training that will allow all candidates to become a referee of padel in France.
Eric Hamon, the President of the Federal Arbitration Commission explained himself toAmandine Reymond of the FFT. He explains that 200 candidates have already participated. A great step forward for the padel.
Since September 1, the JAT (tennis referee) can no longer officiate for tournaments padel. He must obtain his qualification dedicated to padel : the JAP.
The JAP is a diploma specific to padel. This training is independent of tennis.
JAP 2 training therefore takes place entirely online. It is managed by the leagues.
This training is accessible by tennis referees (JAT), licensees, but also all players who practice padel.
To participate in this training:
The JAP2 training is done as follows:
It lasts between 7h and 15h depending on his skills.
The JAP2 will therefore be necessary to officiate in the majority of padel.
The qualification of JAP3 will perhaps be possible from 2021. It depends on the health crisis.
This qualification is long overdue. This is very good news for the world of padel.
Online training is also a good thing even more today with this health crisis.
However, we could perhaps have thought of more simplicity concerning the JAP strata (1, 2 and 3). A single qualification could have been more than sufficient. Eric Hamon's words are interesting, especially when he expresses this independence of padel compared to tennis.
It would have been interesting for the FFT to push this reasoning to this qualification by simplifying its life and that of the candidates.
This is obviously still good news for the padel in France.
Next step in teaching padel specific from 2021.
