We met this week at the Foro Italico in Rome for a big first with the girls who joined the circuit Premier Padel ! No sea this week for the world stars but bright sunshine and particularly hot temperatures! There was also a return eagerly awaited by all the fans, that of Juan Lebron, nicknamed “El Lobo”. As often, the spectators were able to attend a tournament of madness.
It is now a custom: the “Coach Zorrus” offers us his analysis of the tournament.
If the boys regularly regale us with their exploits, this week it is the girls who are in the spotlight! And what a point between the Orsi / Laguno and Polo / Casali pairs. Smash par 3 by Carolina Orsi, exit from the track by Casali who puts the ball back in a lob to achieve a "puerta" on the opposite side! Orsi couldn't believe his eyes!
To review, what for me is THE point of this tournament is HERE !
For the ladies, the finals follow each other but are not alike! Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria, who had smothered and outclassed Marta Ortega and Gemma Triay in Valencia fell against stronger in this Rome final. After a first set won logically and a second set lost in the same way, we feared once again for Gemma and Martita but this time was good for the two players who went to the end of their effort to win this Premier Padel Major of Rome!
For the gentlemen, the question was: are we going to see a Paquito “on fire” in this Rome final? 7/5 7/6 is the score in favor of the Coello/Tapia team, which dominates the padel world championship in 2023, but the few missed opportunities by the Paquito/Chingotto pair during this final point to great games between members of the “Big 4” (Coello/Tapia, Stupa/Di Nenno, Lebron/Galan and therefore Paquito/Chingotto) of the padel worldwide in the weeks and months to come!
