Mélissa Martin: “The Mel 2020 has nothing to do with the Mel 2019”

In the live show, FACE-A-FACE, Mélissa Martin, 2e French and 112e world looks back on its beginnings in padel and a year in 2019 that is both exceptional, but with some issues to manage.

Here is a summary of the live podcast of the FACE-à-FACE program produced on March 30 at 18 p.m. on the Instagram page.

  • Tailor-made training during confinement

Obviously, we have to adapt. And if you want to be ready for a return to normal life, you have to keep in shape. I am lucky to be followed by a physical coach. I try to follow his recommendations. But inevitably, the return may be a bit complicated.

  • A family of sportsmen

I have a family that comes from the world of sport. My father is a boxer and my mother a marathon runner. I had concentrated on tennis. And then the vagaries of life allowed me to discover the padel and to really get into this sport.

  • Robin can talk to girls

The appointment of Robin Haziza at the head of the France ladies team is a good thing I think. He is very educational and knows how to talk to girls. I think the girls trust him and that is the most important.

  • Complicated moments

I had complicated moments last year. On a personal level, and there was an impact on my overall level of play in 2019. In 2020, I'm much better. The Mélissa of today is not that of 2019.

  • Léa Godallier had an incredible season

Our separation with Léa Godallier is a bit normal. She plays very well. Léa had an incredible year in 2019. And I was rather on a difficult slope. Léa did good tests of World Padel Tour.
