Do players boycott P100 / P250 tournaments?

Tournaments padel P100 and P250, would they be boycotted by the players of padel ? After a long investigation into the tournaments of padel in France, we realized that the tournaments of padel of category P100 and P250 (out of 4 categories including P500 and the most popular P1000) were sometimes boycotted. Clubs padel and organizers all have many questions, because it is sometimes difficult to understand the player of padel. Investigation.

We have knowingly removed the names of players and clubs from padel of this investigation at their request.

More players but fewer players in the P100 / P250?

Not obvious without an official figure, so this is only a general impression of the clubs of padel and some players. Maybe there are at least as many players in these P100 and P250 tournaments as before, but the fact that there are a lot of tournaments at the same time means that the players are necessarily divided between different competitions. .

  • Are there not too many competitions?

This is a question that often comes up in both players and clubs.

Maybe we need a real calendar of padel validated several months before and with a ban except in exceptional cases to touch it?

We should also limit, regardless of the types of tournaments, the number of tournaments in France.

Compared to the number of players / competitors available, we sometimes have too many competitions.

Overall, all clubs make this observation. But paradoxically, these same clubs are the first consumers of tournaments ...

Should we limit the number of tournaments organized per club? We do not support it. But some clubs are asking the question.

  • The intermediate player, hard to follow?

On the one hand, he wants to play the most games and not always play against very good players in a tournament ....

But at the same time, "the intermediate player tends to focus more and more on the P500 and even the P1000 ″.

The problem is not that he participates in these types of tournaments (P500 or P1000), on the contrary! The problem is that the intermediate player directs, not to say for some, only participate in big events of padel.

And yes, the observation is simple: There are more players from padel, more intermediate players and yet “it's more complicated today to make a tournament P100 and P250 ".

There are clubs that do a good job of getting the P100 and P250 categories up and running, but there is a shortage of these categories.

Sometimes we even see players from padel beginner / intermediate level do not play the P100 or P250 club tournament in favor of a larger event rather far away and this observation is marginalized, because suddenly the clubs outbid or offer an event of a higher category just after the announcement of a nearby club tournament. So what to do?

We can not fight against the desires of players, and at the same time we feel that there are sometimes some competitors a total disconnect between their level, their need and what they will do. And these same players sometimes come to see the organizer to tell him he is not happy to have been spanked in a P500 or P1000 and had to do otherwise ...

Ouch, some players padel or types of players are singled out. But isn't it up to the clubs and the FFT to organize themselves to adapt to the moods of the players or should the players be more honest with themselves? The answer may lie in the middle.

What do players think of padel ?

The players of padel seem rather satisfied with the tournaments of padel. But they too have sometimes totally contradictory claims ...

  • The problem of points

Subject that comes up regularly: The first 2 categories (P100 and P250) do not offer enough points. Balance, to integrate the main draw of a higher tournament, it is sometimes very complicated.

It is in our interest to only make minimum P500 tournaments, even if we do not have the level because if we lose, we gain more points than if we win a P100 for example.

So here, maybe we should upgrade the lower categories.

The other solution would be to incorporate a minimum weight per category and possibly a maximum weight.

  • The problem of the number of tournaments taken into account

Some clubs and players feel they should not have "that 10 tournaments counted " for classification padel :

there is no mathematical interest in playing P100 P250 and even P500 tournaments for players since there are P1000 tournaments every week and sometimes even 2 on the same weekend.

Some players play the game by moving and eventually their tournaments count for butter. This is not very encouraging especially when you know that sometimes it is expensive!

If we have to take stock: All tournaments should count. We should encourage players who participate in padel and this, regardless of the category played and the number of tournaments played in a season.

  • Hello,
I started the competition this year and I find the distribution of points very unfair and the rise in the ranking really difficult. I do not have solutions, but some observations:
    - When you come from nowhere in the standings, the pools and the table are much more difficult than when the ranking improves. So at the beginning, not only, it is bad, but more you are asked more than less bad. In practice it is quite discouraging because we can stay glued down for a while while we do not play so badly compared to others who have crossed this cut. In addition, we will avoid taking a partner NC because we will regalerate to have to pass. With the growing number of competitors, the phenomenon will increase.
    - On the 10 tournaments I made, my best accounting result is an 1 / 4 in P500: 325 points. But frankly, on other tournaments, we won more difficult games on P250 with less than 100 points in the end
    - There is also a phenomenon of annuitants: when one is well classified, one is painting and one takes points. Like that, I had done my best accounting tournament at the time with a well ranked buddy, we were table and we lost in the first round as well as our consolation match 2.
    - Therefore, in my opinion, the classification starts to be representative of the level only from the 300th place and becomes relevant only for the first 100
    - I think that the tennis system is better done because in the tournament, we score points based on the results against the others and not according to what we do in the tournament and especially the level of the tournament.
    - There are also very important level differences. 3 times, we get out of the hens easily and we even win 2 easily in the first round, then we take 1 or 2 and it's not the same world. A bit like tennis, we went from 15 / 4 to negative.
    - With the growing number of competitors, and the number of tennis players coming to the padel, it should also be assimilated more easily. Today, only the old negas can be assimilated. A former 0 will therefore start last and will have to type all the progress with the biases described above. It would be necessary to be able to place the second and third series in intermediate classifications, for example an old 2nd series: 1200 and old third series 2000.
And personally, I play to play whatever the level of the tournament. I'm happy to win in P100 and happy to play against top players taking me a rust because I learn in a posh tournament.
