Sad christmas at Padel Central Lyon

It's a little bomb in the middle of the padel in France and even perhaps in the middle of padel .

Padel Central Lyon, the club of padel indoor lyonnais is closing its doors.

It was the first club in the Lyon region to embark on the adventure of padel.

Laurent Bériard is "one of the pioneers of this sport”Explains Jérôme Bécasset, president of Padel Club de Lyon In August 2014, the club officially opened its doors with its 4 padel and 1 singles with a unique indoor terrace in the sports industry

But there, "how to fight rent disproportionate to the activity?”Says Thomas Maurand, one of the managers of this Padel Central Lyons.

Laurent Bériard, the creator of the center gave everything, but we had to face the facts, the rent was too high

Another question that Thomas Maurand poses: "What support can the French Tennis Federation provide for tennis clubs? padel private? If we are nevertheless lucky to be in an active line, we observe that the FFT differentiates between municipal and private clubs and does not necessarily offer the same aids.. Let's not forget, these are the clubs of padel private sector which allowed padel to be there. ”

Tomorrow, Lyon will wake up an orphan of Padel Central Lyon. Thank you again to the whole Team for the great moments spent with you and the gigantic work to develop our sport.

your analysis seems to me a little shortened to arrive so quickly at this observation. ....

if the simple elements (price and schedule) were sufficient to explain this closure then there will be more squash tennis club and other sports activities in France

business leader does not improvise and remains very complicated in France nowadays if it does not leave with cash and a proven business model. ..

  • OBJECT; closing of PADEL CENTRAL of LYON.

    - REFLECTIONS of the why by Michel Laborie.

    Disproportionate rent tell you !!!

    - And the 9 € requested to play 45mns !!! knowing that a match of padel lasts minimum 2 hours !!!
    - And the 160 € for 20 units !!! which gives 8 € per hour !!!
    - And the opening on weekends and public holidays: 10 am-19pm !!! you will have to learn to get up earlier and go to bed later to run a club padel !!!
    - And the cherry on the cake; no subscription to the year !!!

Isn't all that disproportionate ??? The result is therefore logical.

    - Reassure you investors of this club, other clubs more or less short term will follow you.

Le padel is one of the rare games emerging in France, it must be allowed to grow by making it financially accessible to everyone.
Like tennis in its day, after a while, private clubs will have no place.

    Michel Laborie

    • Hello
And why not a parallel with squash where private and municipal clubs have always coexisted?
Furthermore, we are no longer in the 70s: the municipalities lack the money to invest. The budget for a padel indoor has nothing to do with outdoor tennis. The prices cannot therefore be identical
