Susana Rodriguez is the Spanish n°1 of padel-armchair. Padel Magazine met her during the FIP Rise in Canet-en-Roussillon and theexhibition organized on center court.

Something new

Padel Magazine : Susana, you have just played an exhibition on the beach of Canet-en-Roussillon. What were your feelings?

Susana Rodriguez :“It was the first time I played on a track of this style. It was great, the organization was wonderful. It's something really new for us, and it's a pride to be invited to play.”

Padel Magazine : The same week, there is the first international tournament of padel-armchair in Le Mans. Next time with the players too?

Susana Rodríguez:“Yeah that would be great. the padel- female chair is not yet developed. We are still not enough. It's been a while since women have been playing padel in a wheelchair.”

Women need to be motivated to start

Padel Magazine : How did you start playing padel-armchair ?

Susana Rodríguez:“I had a car accident when I was 16. I didn't play sports for 10 years, but I still had a very active life. One day in a center, boys who had the same handicap as me invited me to play padel. I loved it, and little by little I really started playing in 2017. The atmosphere is super good, so I started training.”

Padel Magazine : What are your plans for the future?

Susana Rodriguez :“I would love to be able to bring the padel- women's wheelchair internationally. We are few women, but we have to motivate them so that they start playing.”

Padel Magazine : How would you describe your game?

Susana Rodríguez:“I'm a defensive player who puts everything in the field. I don't often go to the net, because I don't feel confident there. I end up tiring my opponents.”
